On a slightly different note, previously when I have really, really craved choc I have found that a square of high cocoa (70% or higher) dark chocolate really takes the edge off. Though it's probably not recommended, it ends up being only about 2g max of carbs and is so intensely chocolatey that I couldn't possibly crave it any more!
I find that if I have no chocolate whatsoever, though - it is easier for me to bear than a little bit, if you know what I mean? I am not a moderation girl!

Premenstrual chocolate craving is a phenomenon that has puzzled a great many women who are not controlled by this overwhelming urge at other times of the month. Yet chocolate, which is highest in magnesium of all foods, is often a sign of magnesium deficiency. If your diet is high in calcium you may have poor calcium absorption as well. The answer is not to eat more chocolate, but to increase your magnesium by eating more whole grains, nuts, seafood, and green vegetables, and by increasing your magnesium supplements. Your chocolate cravings will vanish when you have enough magnesium in your diet.
So far I have been in induction for 2 weeks and a half. I have lost 9 pounds and I love it. Everyone can tell and my trousers are so loose.
I am in the time of the month and I usually get the CHOCOLATE cravings, ALWAYS!!!! So today I decided to have a snack, a piece of taost with peanut butter and a diet hot chocolate made with water. Its was lovely and thats was it, went back to my induction meal for dinner. I felt so well. It was like my body was asking for a bit of chocolate.
Does this ever happen to any of you at that time of the month????
I have been doing great, but I needed that. I just hope I don't gain too much. I really will keep my head positive and keep on going!!!!
Thanks

i know you did not mean to make it sound like that but
it sounded like you thought it was ok that you had a Cheat snack because you have been so good and it was lovely and ok to do sometimes. and thinking like that while on the Atkins diet can cause big problems xD
we just wanted to make sure you knew that is not a safe and ok thing to do while on the atkins diet and there was many different ways to say it but none of them were all that nice xD
That's really interesting about the magnesium/calcium - will give that one a whirl (wonder if it will help me ween myself off the diet cokes too....??!)
Thanks!

Thanks NOT2LATE!!! It might be my problem. Will check if I can add some nuts to my diet since I aonly have 15lbs to go to get to my ideal weight.
And yes, I did find I was getting told off. Its diffrent when people reply like you (you tried to help and gave me an idea of what I may have), not just being plain nasty. anyways have a,lovely weekend. Cheers!
No worries, I didn't mean to sound it was ok for me to have a cheat snack I was just sharing how my hormones were asking for my TOM snack. I wanted to share it with all of you guys to let you all know that I did it and if anyone gets those craving at that TOM. Thanks for your reply!
Have a lovely weekend.
I am a very strict person and a perfectionist, don't think its worth gaining my 10lbs so far for eating crap. If I do fall again i might instead have a tea with sweetner or if its really bad (like the book said) a healthy carb like an apple.

Since you don't have a lot to lose, you should not do extended Induction in the first place. Move to OWL and climb the Carbohydrate Ladder properly, by finding the foods you can eat and those you have an intolerance to, and by determining your CCLL. The first Rung is vegetables, then you'll add diary and then nuts, berries, legumes, fruits, starchy vegetables and grains. If you drink, alcohol can be added in OWL Rung 5, which is between berries and legumes. By the time you have only 5-10 lbs left to lose, you should be moving to Pre-Maintenance.
If you have the book, read/reread the OWL part (Chapter 14) to remember all the rules. Also read the sticky threads on top of the OWL forum.
Happy OWLing!
