  • New and Trying To Get It Right

    Hello all!

I have been working at this for a month now, and after a few hiccups, am trying to continue a clean induction. I would very much appreciate some help / encouragement from all the kind souls on this board.

I am an apple shaped girl (weight around the waist) and although I am stalled pound wise I am noticing a shift in shape. I am actually sort of getting a waist. Any other apple shaped ladies find this to be true?

Also, I am using Fitday to track my eating and I am finding I am eating more caloriewise than my BMR, and also hovering around 44% protein, 54% fat. Any helpful advise on getting more fat in?

I have read and continually reference the book - but I would also love some real live opinions (and support).

    Thank you very much.

    Jen

I've found that if you eat your required vegetables, the protein and fat fall into place. If you're eating 44% and 54%, that only adds up to 2% carbs, which is below what it should be.

You'll be more likely to get help if you can post some sample diets.

Re: New and Trying To Get It Right

Thank you for responding. I do get in my veggies by way of salads for lunch. Today I've had:

      2 eggs
      1t coconut oil
      1 oz mozzerella cheese
      1 T heavy cream

3 C romaine lettuce, cucumbers, broccoli
      1 hard boiled egg
      1 grilled chicken breast
      1 oz shredded cheddar

      coffee w/ 1 T cream

      snack: hard boiled egg

I will probably make a 1/4 lb turker burger (no bun) with mayo for dinner.

      Water all day, of course.

      Any suggestions are appreciated.

You're not really eating many fatty meats. Chicken breast and ground turkey are very high protein, low fat foods. Try swapping one of them out for pork or beef.

If you don't like red meat, consider using more butter / oil for cooking.

Honestly, I'm so conditioned to eat lean meats....I am going to have to try some new things. I will use more oil in cooking...but I guess the 97/3 ground turkey is not the best choice....

Just a suggestion... Clarified butter or ghee is a great fat for cooking and it makes food tastes much better than vegetable oils. I think it's healthier than vegetable oils, too.
