  • Frustrated!!!

I am sooooo frustrated. Its just not fair. I have been working out everyday for 1 hour doing cardio, sometimes twice a day I have been sticking to the diet although I have had some struggles and my husband my darling husband who hasn't exercised or even changed his eating habbits has lost 22 pounds. All he did was stop drinking soda. God I just want to kill someone. I have been killing myself for over a month and he hasn't done **** and he lost more than me. This just doesnt seem fair. This is soooo b.s.

sorry if i offended anyone but i just needed to rant.

Welcome to the battle of the sexes. Same thing happens to me every time. DH loses with little exercise if any and not much diet effort and I work my a** off for a pound a week. (sigh)

I can't remember who posted this quote but it rings true!
A man thinks about going on a diet and loses pounds immediately, a woman thinks about cheating on her diet and gains pounds immediately
Never be tempted to compare your losses with a man, you will only be disappointed

However - looking at your stats, from a total of 78 pounds to lose you have already lost 16 which is 20% and you are still in the first 14 days of induction Not too shabby
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Hi Bumbee! Did you take measurements previous to starting your diet? If not start now, you may be surprised to see the results.Men tend to lose weight faster since they have a larger muscle mass; ugh to their metabolisms! Ultimately you have done great, you are 16 pounds smaller! Congrats to that!

You have a loooooooooong hard road ahead of you... Where every single pound is going to be a battle. You have to really want it to make the journey to the end. Don't pay attention to what other people lose. If life were fair we would all be models living in mansions... You are doing awesome... once your expectations are in line with reality, you will be doing even better. (Feeling good about yourself...)

In my experience, exercise doesn't help wt loss.Of course it is good for us and will tone the body AFTER the wt loss.Diet and diet alone is what will get me lean.I found strenous exercise prior to substantial wt loss just made me more hungry.Concentrate on low carb, high fat and go easy on exercise. After you have lost quite a bit, pick up the pace. Then you can easily see your new body become toned.

                  Re: Frustrated!!!

Or you could follow Dr Atkins advice in DANDR and include exercise in your Atkins journey from the start

Misconception: You can use Atkins for weight loss, but you don't have to bother with exercise and supplements if you don't have any health problems.
Reality: If you don't supplement with vitanutrients and exercise regularly, you may take off pounds, but you will miss out on important health benefits. And everyone needs exercise: It is not related solely to weight loss.
                  Rule #16
Unless you are physically unable to do so, exercise every day, even if it's just a walk around the block. This is an important part of the program in all phases
Number 16, on page 231, with regard to exercise, was not put in there merely as decoration. Exercise is good for you, and it will help you lose. Moreover, it not only causes you to burn calories, but it accelerates your metabolism, increasing the speed with which every other part of a weight loss program works and keeps you on the road to better health.
Remember, if you're going to stay slim and healthy, a significant increase in the amount of exercise-which I strongly recommend for everyone-is absolutely essential for those of you with high metabolic resistance. Without it, losing weight may actually be hard for you. (See Chapter 22.)
If you're serious about following Atkins for life, I must reiterate that you have to invest some energy in exercise. Contrary to the messages our society generally sends us, your body was meant to move. Sitting around is unnatural. Working in an office is unnatural. A whole lot of modern life is unnatural. Parking in the far corner of the parking lot is not a mistake. It's where you should be, because exercise is not optional. It's an integral part of doing Atkins. It's often neglected and sometimes quietly scorned, but if you think you're doing the program and you're not exercising, you're not doing the program.
when you get less exercise, your metabolism tends to slow down (just as increasing exercise revs it up). Dear reader, from a health perspective, exercise is a beautiful thing. I just wish I could inject a love-exercise gene into all my patients-and readers. It would make their lives a lot easier

                    Re: Frustrated!!!

Feels good to vent a bit doesn't it Bumbee? Now lets revisit that little burst you shared with us. Some might suggest you were actually killing yourself BEFORE you got started your one hour routine. Your husbands not really ahead of you. As a couple you guys are making some major strides to a happier healthier life..ie, both winning.

After 4 months, I've only lost 15 pounds....but I can wear my jeans again and I can see my belt buckle when i stand and i feel so much better. I stopped focusing on my 3 month stall because this is my new life...without late night chips, pizza buffets with the boys and double hits on the desert section.

Enjoy what success you have had and know there is more to come!

Thanks everyone for listening to me rant....I do have to say since I have been doing atkins I have seen some other changes which are wonderful. My hair is growing like crazy along with my nails and my skin is gorgious if i do say so myself, so much so that I have totally stopped wearing makeup as I am just in love with the way my skins has changed. I had my son a year ago and most of my hair fell out (you moms out there can understand) and lately everyone has been complementing me asking me what my secret is.
