  • Vitamins in urine?

I've heard some folks say that they take their vitamins at night so the vitamins don't run out with the urine during the day because of all the water we drink. Does anyone know if this is fact or just something that "sounds like a good idea".
Anyone do this and notice a difference?

Seems like it wouldn't matter--I mean your bladder is your bladder, I don't think your body gets any more out of waste whether it sits for 10 min or 10 hours.

even them out through out the day thats what i would do

1 in the morning 1 afternoon 1 night that way you would have the highest chance to absorb them all i think

The fat-soluble vitamins are better absorbed with a meal that has some fat in it. Calcium is also better absorbed with/after a meal too, because you need the acid to act on it.

Water-soluble vitamins. They can't be readily stored, so any surplus will be excreted by kidneys in the urine (except B12, which goes to the liver and is excreted in feces), regardless of whether you pee now or 5 hours later. Since they can't be stored, it's better to have a continuous intake of these vitamins throughout the day from the foods you eat.

I have a multivitamin of which I only have to take one tablet per day. I take it with a meal (to avoid feeling yucky), usually lunch or dinner, and I never noticed a correlation between the time of day when I take it and the way I feel.

Something else. Going by the color of your pee is really not a good idea, because the color simply indicates the concentration, not the amount excreted.

Ok, thanks guys. Right now all I'm taking is a multi vitamin and Biotin.
Maybe I'll do the multi vitamin in the morning and the Biotin at night.
I was doing about 5 different pills and was taking them all right after breakfast. Decided all I needed was a vitamin and biotin(still not sure if I need this though).
            Thanks again,

            Susan

I'm not too scientific about it. I read somewhere that glucosamine is better taken at night so I do that. I also take my multi at night because sometimes the after taste makes me gag so if I get to sleep I don't have to deal with the taste.
