    Re: Calories

It depends. Some people never even know. I find that for me at my age I do need to keep track even though I exercise a lot. I generally eat between 1700 and 1900 a day.

    HW 298
    HW (this time) 248
    GOAL ONE 228
    (take 2)
    GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

      Re: Calories

Estimate your metabolism, then your goals, then do the appropriates caloric deficiet. Shoot for a max loss of 1.5 - 2 lb. per week. Your loss will be much greater at first because of carb restriction and your body burning fat for fuel. Burning the bodyfat happens to occur about 12 days into induction. I guess that's wht Dr. A. came up with the two week induction phase. I used sci-finder at school and read a bit of journals published in the area.

      Cheers,

How tall are you? Male/Female? Weight? Age?
        These are all factors.

Check out Calorie Calculator - Daily Caloric Needs. This will tell you how many calories to maintain. Reduce from there. Remember - you don't want your body to go into starvation mode, so don't reduce too severly.

You don't need to count calories if you follow the Dr.'s advice to stop eating when you are no longer hungry, and to eat when you are hungry...but I do find it helpful for planning to know about how many calories a day to aim for

          Re: Calories

I know we're not really supposed to count calories, but I do mostly out of curiosity, to track progress, and to make sure I eat enough! I find that I don't really like to eat because of ketosis.
