  • Am i doing something wrong! :(

First of all, hello! I am new to this site but I must say I have been following this site for quite sometime now and it's been very helpful.

Here's the deal. I used to eat carbs for all three meals and when I started to do atkins, i first did my pseudo induction to get used to eating low carbs. I would eat a half a bowl of cereal and then follow strict atkins for the rest of the day. I did this for two weeks and may have two slipups on the weekends.

Next, i took a little break and i did the strong induction..full on. I felt all the changes to my body and I lose some weight..I didnt measure how much because fitting of clothes makes me feel better and many do fit now.

In the second phase, I realized I made some mistakes..had black bean soup and coffee and 2 slip-ups...two small muffins!

So, now I wanted to do very well and be very strict to my diet..I started a week ago..no caffeine, no muffin, no black bean soup..but I feel I am not losing weight. I don't feel that sweaty in the night as I did in the second time around and I don't get as much stomach disasters as I did in the second round...

Anything wrong? Should I move to OWL? or should I have a carb fest one of these days?

I am 23 years old and have to lose 15 pounds to 20 pounds.. started almost 130 pounds, 5 ft, 2 inch tall..Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi
    Welcome to ADBB!

I would assume that the reason you are not seeing the sweats and stomach problems is that although you were not 100% correct with your induction your body has started adapting to lowcarb eating.

congratulations on your loss so far

I would suggest starting on the first level/rung of OWL and adding 5 net carbs more of your induction veggies.

It might be sensible to take measurements and maybe weigh so you know where you are in your journey, and to have a way to measure your progress as you climb the OWL carbohydrate ladder.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

It would not hurt to post a menu in the "review my menu" section. Since there are other things you have slipped up on it might be a good idea for us to check to makes sure there isn't another hidden problem.

The one thing with this way of eating is that you can't "partially" do this and have success. You must get things going well at the beginning and slowly add the low glycemic carbs in little by little. Even if your daily total is below your limit, if you have all the carbs in one sitting you will blow the body chemistry that you have built on.

Since you have already lost some weight and only have a small amount to lose then you should expect your losses to be a pound a week or even less. Losing it slowly will guarantee that you will be more likely to keep it off. Also check to see if you are losing inches even if you are not losing pounds.

There is no such thing as "a carb fest" if you are following the plan - no where in the book does it say to load up on carbs if you aren't loosing weight. That is something some people here say when they need a reason to cheat. If you eat the proper foods and get into keotsis you won't desire foods that aren't allowed so you won't cheat. There is no way around it .... a cheat is a cheat is a cheat....and it's not Atkins!

Have you read the 2002 DANDR edition? Are you eating only foods on the acceptable food list? How much PURE water are you drinking daily? What exercise are you doing? I agree with Jill that you need to post your daily food on the Rate my Menu area...you will find out exactly what you are eating that you shouldn't be if there is anything -- but you have to be honest .... portion size is important, not "I think I ate a couple ounces of" - you should be weighing your food so you learn portion control.

        Good luck toyou.
