  • Wingstop gained me 3 lbs

According to their rep, the cajun, atomic and hot sauces contain zero sugar and zero carbs... yeah right.

Been having those for lunch with no sauce for the past 4 days, and managed to pack on 3 lbs. Zero other changes to my diet that was losing me quite a bit of weight per day.

Here's the best part - my exercise has progressed to an hour of Elliptical at the gym at level 8 for an hour six days a week, and that stupid Wingstop is STILL making me gain. That's insane. No idea what's in it, but it ain't no carbs no sugar.
    What I do:
Elliptical gym machine 1 hr Tue-Sun
At 320, switch to cycling on my Trek 500
    2 filtered containers water/day
    Daily salads/veggies

    Goals:

Stop needing High Blood Pressure meds - DONE!
    Workout in a XXXL shirt
    - DONE!
    Workout in a XXL shirt
    Workout in a XL shirt
    270 on the scales

Could it be the sodium, thus causing water retention? I'd suspect they're very high in sodium.

what slapshot said. personally if im working out a lot, eat something high in sodium and dont drink way more than enough water, I'll gain or stop losing. You might try their parmesan garlic or lemon pepper kind w/ no sauce. I've eaten these before with no trouble. but because its 'outside' food, you couldn't pay me to eat it 3-4 days in a row because i didnt make it so i dont know whats in it. I'll have wingstop about once a month, but im sure if i ate it every day it'd probably cause me problems

Well that label ms is surely wrong. The thing cannot have zero protein. They do not divulge their nutritional info Wingstop.
But I agree if it was not hidden carbs (spices and rubs do have carbs) it was probably a combination of salt and calories.
Also your exercise may be making you hold on to water for a bit. If you suddenly increase activity the body gets anxious. Muscels hang on to water to repair and recover. But that will level out fine. Don't forget to give yourself rest days.
One hour on level 8 is impressive Good for you.

Thanks everyone, I'm gonna stop eating that crap. Feels like I swallowed a hammer from Home Depot anyhow, about 2 hours after consuming it.

Yes I was sucking down a full 10 a day for lunch. Sometimes with 1/8 the small container they supply of Blue Cheese sauce (maybe a teaspoon in total), other times not. I'll switch back to my more traditional chicken salad or taco salad (homemade).

              Hey John,
Just a thought: since you are exercising so much, perhaps your weight "gain" is from muscle development, remeber, muscle is more dense than fat, it is possible that you are losing fat. How are your close fitting? I know my weight has not changed much in the past two weeks..I am down only 3 lbs, but my waist is reducing quickly. I put on a pair of pants and used a belt from when I first started my diet, and I had trouble getting the first notch, now I am down to the last notch (easily I might add). It is something to consider. And keep on buddy!!! Rock on.

I have always been afraid of making wings at home but it is actually pretty easy. Just a thought..you can make one big batch and spread them out over a few days. I still don't make them very often though.

I live off Blue Cheese..thankful to have found one with no sugar in it.

                Good luck.

Liv - I didn't notice that about the protein until I looked at the nutritional info for another one and saw that the protein on that one was 40 for ten wings...

I can't imagine it's the sodium. I eat tons of salt on my food, and I've been losing regularly, both in pounds and inches. However, I do exercise and weight-lift, so I may be sweating it all out.

Everyone's body is different. If I look at bacon, I retain 1-2lbs of water. It's certainly a Your-Mileage-May-Vary thing, and worth John considering given the enormous amount of sodium just in the wings (an entire RDA's worth).

""We" are only allowed 1400 per day" ??? "We," as in Atkins dieters? Atkins does not limit salt. Salt is necessary for life. Salt is necessary for every bodily function.

Granted, refined salt is almost worthless, but we need more than 1,400 mg just for daily bodily functions. We retain fluid when we get too little salt, as well as when we get too much salt. The body is constantly trying to balance sodium, potassium and magnesium. Any one element gets low, the body hordes water to keep from losing more. Blood pressure can spike more easily from too little salt as it can too much.

Just limiting processed foods cuts sodium way down on Atkins, so if you are eating mostly whole foods, you need to add salt to your food. You need salt to digest meat and protein. Unrefined sea salt still contains all the trace minerals to balance the body's electrolytes.

Very few people are salt-sensitive, so only those people need to use very little salt. It's the kind of salt that causes the problem. And, just because it's labeled "sea salt" does not mean it has not had all the minerals processed and bleached out of it. It needs to be unrefined sea salt.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Its not the wings. Just be patient and wait a few days and keep doing what you are doing. The weight will come off all you have to do is stick to the diet and keep exercising. I eat wings all the time from Beef O Brady's. Weigh yourself once a week or even once every two weeks. My weight goes up and down everyday so I quit weighing daily. Stay the course an you will be fine.
