Hi ive been on atkins for 3 weeks now and i've lost 25 pounds. I have read the book, up to OWL but decided to keep on induction since i have alot more weight to lose. 1 thing i am confused about is the sugar. i know i am not to have more than 20 carbs a day, and i know most needs to come from veggies. My appetite has changed dramtically being on atkins and i find it hard sometimes to eat more than 1 meal a day, so sometimes i cant get the veggies i need, but that leaves me way below the 20 carb limit. Would using protects like lea and perrins- Lea & Perrins The Original Worcestershire Sauce calories and nutrition information - Food Labels - DietFacts.com

    INGREDIENTS:
Vinegar, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, anchovies, water, onions, salt, garlic, tamarind concentrate, cloves, natural flavorings, chili pepper extract.
stall my weight lose? Again, i cant always get the veggies i need due just to not being hungry, so im curious if limited amount of sugar would cause issues.

No way would I have that... molasses and high fructose corn syrup are definite no-no's.

Ok, it's time for a little tough love.

Not being hungry is never an excuse to get out of eating your veggies. You need to eat your serving of veggies within the very first part of your meal and that way, you can't beg off for being too full. You also need to eat more than once a day... you don't need to eat a lot, but you do need to have a little something. I have 2 snacks, and both of them are veggies with a piece of string cheese.

The benefits of following the plan as written are worth the effort. Doing Atkins effectively for life is all about a change of lifestyle. Good luck to you.

      Re: Confused

First of all congrats on your 25 lb weight loss! I wish I could lose that much in 3 weeks! Anyways to get to the point here...you gotta force down those veggies! the high fructose corn syrup and molasses could stall you, or cause cravings. try experimenting with some veggies you haven't tried yet...or do what i do and smother them in olive oil and a little salt and whatever other seasonings...mmm. i have found out the hard way more than once that eating low carb "products" only leads to problems. this is like my millionth attempt at Atkins because I know I feel good and lose weight on this WOE, but I've had to accept that I can't have any weird sauces or other "low carb" products. Lately I have been eating buffalo chicken with Franks red hot sauce, it has no sugar or starch ingredients and is awesome, and i can eat some veggies with it too because its easy to eat celery and other veggies with your buffalo sauce to cool things down a bit. I have it with a ZERO sugar blue cheese dressing...tasty and I forget I'm eating veggies because I'm enjoying the meal so much.

Any way you add it up, high fructose corn syrup is POISON.

Since you have the book, check Chapter 11 again to see what dressings you can have. It says no sugar there, so the stuff you're asking about is not allowed.

Could you post a few daily menus in the "Review My Menu" forum? Don't forget to include quantities for everything.
