Does it matter what color the sticks are?? Example: Will a person that is always in the really dark color lose weight faster than a person that is in a lighter color? For the past 2 days mine is showing "Small" amounts.
    Thanks for all your support!!

    No.

    Don't worry about it.

Our bodies produce 3 ketone bodies. Those stix measure only 1 of the 3. Furthermore that ketone comprizes less than 20% of the total ketones produced AND that ketone can "dissolve" in blood plasma and turn into acetone, the ketone that is expelled by our lungs and is responsible for "ketobreath".

If you want a really accurate ketone measurement, you would have to donate a bit of blood to test the "serum ketone" beta-hydroxybutrate, which comprizes about 80% of the ketones we produce.

Just to follow up the darker the ketone color the more weight you'll lose thing....

Some years ago the Atkins Center nutritionist did an interview. In it she told the story of a woman who called the Atkins Center because her ketostix were dark, dark purple, but she wasn't losing any weight at all. When they reviewed her menu, they learned this lady was eating a pound of butter every night as dessert. So yeah, she was producing ketones, but she wasn't losing any weight.

        Re: Ketosticks Color

I've spent many many many days peein' dark purple, eating on plan and NOT losing much at all. However, I did begin to lose when I started making a real effort to climb the carb ladder and feed myself carbs. The weight began to drop and I often found myself in moderate or pink areas of the color spectrum. For many people, dark purple can mean dehydration. There's no way around the plan, only through it. If you're on Induction and feel the symptoms of ketosis, you don't need to test often at all. The sticks come in super handy when you head to OWL phase and beyond to see what knocks you out and what doesn't. They're a learning tool but on Induction, after a few days, they're pretty much a waste of money. Feel free to search the threads also. The manufacturers recommend testing about 2 hours after eating a meal. Do not test when you first wake up. Do not test right after exercise. You won't get accurate results.
