  • Help with Induction

    Hi,

I just read the Atkins Book and I must say I am confused on the prepackaged meats. Is prepackaged Ham and Turkey acceptable for Induction, or would I need to buy a whole ham and turkey and cook. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Help with Induction

It could serve you well (budget wise, anyway) to do the latter. On the other hand, you could take time to read ingredients on whatever package you pick up, and if the ingredients don't list sugar(s), starches, or nitrates/nitrites, you could go with it.... but there's plenty of "grey zone" product out there, with unclear labeling.

You may be able to get in-between, with such things as precooked turkey, or rotisserie chickens.... mmmmm!! Justt check the label first!

Susan is right -- reading and understanding the labels is key to your success. What I normally do is go to the deli and get meat there in place of the pre-packaged kind.

Can't go wrong eating well marbled ribeyes.Turkey is pretty lean and ham is cured with sugar often. If on a budget, but a lot of ground beef.Eat fat to get lean.

Thanks everyone for answering, I actually found a type of ham that has zero carbs!

            Re: Help with Induction

Remember that zero carb does not mean it is safe to eat. Zero carb does not mean it has zero carb because labeling laws allows companies to round down. To say zero when it is not really zero. You have to read the label with ingredients. Look for either sugar or dextrose.
