  • Lipolysis Testing Strips

    I went to Wal-Mart today and all I could find was Ketone Test Strips. Is this the same thing as Lipolysis Testing Strips?

    If so, when I did the test my results came out to be moderate. I read the information provided in the box with the test strips and it says, "If the test shows a moderate or large amount of ketone, call your doctor or diabetes educator". So why does it say this? Do I need to call my doctor?

    If I am in Ketosis should I not be losing weight at this point or is it possible to be in Ketosis and not lose weight? This is day 9 for me and I have not lost. I have been exercising and made the adjustments suggested on here after posting my menu.

    Also, I have not experienced the bad breath. Is this a sign that my level of Ketones or not high enough or am I just lucky?

    Yes these are the strips.

    Yes you are lucky if you do not have bad breath.

    You do not need to call the doc. These are designed for a medical purpose and with certain conditions you want to avoid ketosis. On Atkins, it means we are doing things right. Unless you have a preexisting kidney condition you should be fine.

    As long as there is color you are in ketosis so the actual color itself doesn't matter since many things can affect it including hydration level.

      Yes, it is possible to be in ketosis and not lose. This can be cause by eating way too many calories, by simple adjustments your body needs time to make, by TOM, and sometimes our bodies simply take their time in cooperating with us. My advice is to keep doing things right and wait it out.
