  • Ceasar Dressing?

i am confused about this. I look at the ingrediants and i know there are many things i should stay away from, but it says only 1 carb per serving. I have had this during the first couple days of atkins not knowing better to look at the label and i didnt have any issues with stalling or anything, any insite?

By definition, it is impossible to stall during the first few days because a stall means four consecutive weeks without weight loss or loss of inches. Also, even when consuming small amounts of sugar, most of us will lose weight during the first few days of Induction as long as we are restricting carbohydrates.

The truth is, you really don't know what effect the dressing has on you. In the long term, it could stall your weight loss or only slow it down or mess up your blood sugar or do nothing. Unless you do a 14-day Induction while eating the dressing and one while not eating it (and keep everything else the same... which is pretty much impossible), there's no way to say how it affects you. Besides, since the 14-day Induction can only be done once (Induction can be extended, but that's a different thing), this is just a hypothetical experiment. Best thing to do is substitute the dressing you've been using with a "legal" one or make your own. You want to do a clean Induction and get the maximum possible weight loss out of it, so it's not worth making compromises.

I use the Marie's blue cheese..it is often found near the Marzetti dressings in the produce section. Its the only one I have found with no sugar in it. They do have a Caesar's dressing with 0 sugar but I am not sure the ingredients.

I have also searched high and low and finally found an italian dressing with 0 sugar. It is called Lily's Vintage dressing "Northern Italian". I can't find the list of ingredients on the web. I am in the Northeast (VT) and found it in Price Chopper. I am sure they have other kinds of dressing but not sure exactly what they have.

      Good luck.

There is a wonderful caesar dressing recipe in the recipe request section - I make it all the time now, not sure of the carb count, but it is delicious. I double the recipe and keep it in the fridge until I need it.

I generally stick to a simple viniagrette. But if I do a Cesar type dressing, I follow this recipe i got from a Martha Stewart Living magazine back in the 1990s:

          Cesar Dressing:

          2 garlic cloves
          4 anchovy fillets
          1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
          1 tablespoon lemon juice
          1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
          2 tablespoons Mayonnaise
          1/3 cup oil

Toss everything into a food processor or blender. Whiz until smooth. I add a little water if it is too thick. And I store it in a jar in the fridge.
