        Re: My son's weight loss

Weights will bob up and down a bit. I don't know your circumstances or history, but even on Atkins 4 eggs and 4 slices of bacon in the morning seems excessive. Try three of each and see what happens. After 20 mins he may be full. If not, then eat something else. Many times we get used to eating a certain quantity without realizing we could be satisfied with less. Also this is really high in cheese. check that he is getting only 3-4 ounces a day.

If your child is a teen, there are better options than Atkins. The book "Feed your Kids Well" by Fred Pescatore, is an Atkins based program for teens that guarantees their nutritional needs while losing.

That looks like a good start for him, well done Lia

You are doing a good job on planing the 3 cups of veg, but maybe if you could have some veg at each meal it might be better. Also try to choose more nutritious veg if you can, as having 2 of his allowed 3 cups from lettuce will make it hard for you to make sure he gets 'most' of his carbs from his veggies as instructed by Dr A.

You will probably find that his appetite lessens after a while and so he will not be hungry enough to eat such a large omelette for breakfast, so be ready to scale down portions in due course.

I do see quite a few 'entries' for cheese - just keep them down to the 3-4 ounces a day and I am sure all will be well!

Oops - Jill and I were posting at the same time so I have repeated some of the same advice that she gave.

Decide which scale is the most accurate... Weigh him on one scale and one scale only... weigh him in the morning before eating only once a day (at most). Write it down and keep a log. At the end of the 14 days compare the two numbers...

And yes... a drop of 5 lbs in the first 3 days is normal...

Wow! That is a long stretch until lunch! Poor guy. Sounds like you just need to tweak but you are doing great so far. It is so tough to help a kid do this, I give you a great deal of credit because kids are so "now" motivated.

                    Re: My son's weight loss

4 eggs and 4 slices of bacon sound fine to me you dont want him geting hungry i think once his body heals itself and he naturally becomes less hungry then you can try 3 eggs and 3 slices of bacon

but also remember breakfast is the most important meal of the day i get lots of energy from my breakfast to have good work outs at the gym

and ya 6 am till 11:30 is a long stretch

when i first started atkins i was eating 7-8 eggs for breakfast however i did have a damaged gut and it took 6 months on atkins before it was healed and before i could absorb food normally now im satisfed with 5 eggs for breakfast

and 1 egg is worth about 1.8 slices of bacon right? guess it depends what kind of bacon
