    Re: i need help???

cow milk is not allowed it has way to many carbohydrates

a whole chicken egg is 61% fat in other words a perfect food and never eat just the egg whites always eat the yolk aswell

you want to aim for 65% fat , 30% protein , 5% carbs (20 net carbs not counting fiber)

you must eat high fat in order for the diet to work
high fat, medium protein, low carb

potatos and corn are not allowed they have way to many carbs

FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal:*
go to this website and put in all the foods you eat and try to aim for 65% fat 30% protein 3-5% carbs ( 20 net carbs not counting fiber )

later on in the Atkins diet you can eat higher net carbs after you have lost your weight like 50 but you should do the Rungs and stuff to see how high or low you like

Low-Carb Vegetables: List of Vegetables to Eat When Cutting Carbs
this is a good list of low carb vegetables

so in short eat as much eggs,un salted butter, meat, fat, fish as you want

and the lower carb vegetables you can eat almost as much as you want of them as well but just add it all into fitday so you dont go over the carb limmit

but try to learn about the Atkins diet more it will be hard to have success with such little knownledge about it cause asking things like is Milk ok to drink? shows you dont know anywhere near enough to make the diet work properly

the diet is EXTREMELY STRICT you dont want to eat something bad and it take your metabolism out of a fat burning one and into a glucose burning one

    -------
also heres a website with tons of info so you can learn even more
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, IBD, IBS, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac & Candida Diet Program.
theres links to other things on that site so just keep learning

also dont eat any aspartame or soy this link explains why soy is bad near the bottom
Mommy Goes Shopping for Baby Food! Diet and Nutrition for Infant Health.
    --------

anyways keep hanging around these forums and keep reading and learning and you will get the hang of the Atkins diet and once you know how to do the diet 100% you will lose weight and become healthy

you must drink lots of water during weight loss and the start of the diet it helps flush the toxins from the fat you lose out of your body

    ---
    today is my first day

had green tea and boiled egg for b/fast.

and 3 pcs of grilled chicken for lunch

make sure you eat the chicken skin and make sure you use butter to cook the meat with
make sure you dont add any sugar sauce
your green tea make sure it has no milk

try and eat more than just 1 egg for breakfast try and eat atleast 2 whole eggs

make sure you eat food so you are never hungry if you get hungry make sure you eat

and if you ate to little one day you will have to go and eat more food so your metabolism doesnt slow down

add a vegetable to your food like broccoli make sure you dont eat broccoli raw it needs to be slightly cooked for 2-4 mins to get the thyriod damageing things out of it dont worry 2-4 mins cooking just to make it not super crunching is enough

well take in all the new info and tell us your menu again and we will see how good it is

What an odd diet you were following.Atkins will work for you because as you have said you eat meat and eggs then follow the diet properly by reading the book.In thies diet you are allowed many other foods that your present diet did not so you will have variety of foods and hopefully will lose the weight.Good luck.

i do miss sipping diet sodas .

and i have to start working out soon.

i just hope i can do it .

        thanks
That sounds good! Much better than before.

Did you read the links Liv gave you? You can have the veggies listed on the website ziggy posted, but there are others on the Induction acceptable foods list which you can also have. Veggies are definitely not unlimited during Induction --- you should eat 3 cups, either 2 cups of "salad vegetables" (not necessarily prepared in a salad) and 1 cup of "other vegetables" OR 3 cups of "salad vegetables". Did you have some veggies with that chicken? It's good to spread your veggies throughout the day, to avoid blood sugar spikes.

You can start with light exercise and build from there. Any exercising plans for today? Going for a walk maybe?

          Re: i need help???

Sorry, I missed the second part of the veggie list on the about.com website. Carrots are only allowed from OWL Rung 8 on, despite the fact that they are listed under "Low-Carb Vegetables". Better use the list from the book, which is in the second link Liv posted --- that's the correct one for Atkins.

            Re: i need help???

im still unclear about the OWL bit ... so im going to bother you on it again after 2 weeks tomorrow is a new day.

im hoping i stick to it despite the persuasions.

            I want to do it.

              Re: i need help???

Don't worry about OWL for now. Just count your net carbs every day and try to get your Induction percentages to be approximately 65% fat, 5% carbs, 30% protein (too much protein can be converted to glucose, so you don't want to overeat protein). And don't eat anything that is not on the list Liv gave you --- that first "illegal" bite may be the first step on a very slippery slope to Carb Land.

Let us know how it goes and ask questions when you have them.
