  • Best Online meal/calorie/weight tracker?

I'm looking at various sites to track my daily carb/calorie intake and monitor my general progress. Is there a site out there that takes into consideration the low carb diets? I'm looking at FitDay, Daily Plate, Calorie King, Calorie-count, Spark People, etc. (Free versions.)

Any recommendations? Which one has the best user interface? Which one has the most features? Which one is most Atkins-friendly?

    Thanks!

I started Atkins because I LOVE bacon
First time 2002: 145/130 -- reached goal in 6 weeks, generally maintained for 2 years, then dove back into carbs
    2nd time started June 2009: 183/180/135

I use fitday.com because I am used to it and I have a lot of my custom foods already in the program. I think if I had started with sparkpeople first I would probably like that one better. The fitness stuff is superior to fitday. I am not familiar with the others.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

i used fitday because it was the first thing i started using and i guess i just got very use to it. i like it fine though. sadie147, another moderator here, likes dailyplate. it may be that you will just have to try several days or a week on each one and see which works best for you.

I use, and love , SparksPeople for many reasons. You can track your foods, add your own recipes so that you have the nutritional values; play a little Sparks Points game that is, like the rest of the board, a great motivator. There are many articles, forums and other things to keep you on track.

They are not especially Atkins friendly although there are low carb and Atkins forums. You can override their nutrient recommendations, but you do have to manually subtract the fiber from the carbs.

But it is totally worth it to have the fitness support that Chinadoll spoke of! Did I mention you can track your exercise just like you do your food (and water, too) and get points LOL!!

If you haven't checked out all that SparksPeople has to offer, give it a closer look/see.

Oh, and years ago I did use FitDay, it was good for it's time, and I've tried a couple times to use it again. Just am not as happy with it as I am with SparksPeople.

Thanks for posing your question, it gave me a great opportunity to brag about one of my favoriate sites!!

I don't want to spend a lot of time tracking my food. Fitday works great for me because I just sign on, click on my foods (which are already saved) check my totals and sign off... Quick and easy and on to better parts of my life...

            Re: Best Online meal/calorie/weight tracker?

I'm probably the lone voice for SparksPeople because it's obvious that that the majority of those on ADBB use FitDay, many of them only because they've already input their custom foods and don't want to have to re-invent the wheel.

But no matter which tracker you select, you will have to take the time to put in your custom foods, things that are not already listed in the tracker. Once you get your foods input it doesn't take any time no matter which you use.

I didn't explore FitDays ability to input your own recipe to get the nutritional values you need to put the food into FitDay - I guess they probably have one. I still root for SparksPeople!
