Hello everyone- I'm new! I've been doing Atkins for 2 weeks now and whenever I try to work out I'm much more lethargic and tired vs. before when I'd work out. I almost have no evergy to work out. Anyone experience this?

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
I have experienced this before, I have also been having some lower back issues as well so I really really don't want to work out. But, that being said when I push through a half hour or so of vigorous, sweaty heart pounding exercise I feel 10 times better than I did before. My back pain even goes away for awhile. I worked out last nite and I am still full of energy here today @ 2 in the after noon.22/M/6'0

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
What is your menu? When are you eating and when are you exercising? What are you eating before/after exercising? How many carbs, fat, protein?Originally posted by avabelle View PostHello everyone- I'm new! Did you decide what you're going to do? Induction a little longer or move to OWL? Adding a few more veggie carbs might solve the problem."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
Thanks for the replies! Greedyvw- good to know I'm not alone!
Hi Gerogina- my typical menu-
breakfast 2 fried eggs and 3 slices turkey bacon. Black coffee
Lunch- grilled chicken over salad with oil/vingear.
Dinner- hamburger no bun, or grilled chicken or steak, maybe another small salad or if no salad and a small side grilled veggies.
Snacks- piece of swiss cheese, a pepper cut up with ranch dressing or a small handful of nuts. I know nuts aren't allowed on induction but I still enjoy having them. I drink tons of water- maybe have a diet pop every 2 days but mostly water.

Okay, I was afraid you're not eating enough, but that looks good.
So how much did you lose during Induction? Did you lose a lot in these two weeks? What's your degree of metabolic resistance?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
Well it will be offically 2 weeks this Friday and I haven't weighed myself in the past 2 days- but before I was down 3 pounds. I will weigh myself tom morning. How do I find out my degree of metabolic resistance? My stats so you know are female, 5' 8, 171 to start and was 168.8 last time I weighed.

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
It looks like your fat intake could be low. If you aren't getting 65% of your calories in fat that could account for your lack of energy. Are you taking your vitamins and supplements?
I do 3 cardio intervals/week, 3 weight training (heavy) sessions/week, 2 cardio core workouts/week and 120 pushups every other day on about an average of 30 carbs a day with no low energy issues.

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
If you increase the fat to 65% of your calorie intake, you will find that you won't need the nuts. The fat is what satiates and keeps away those hunger pangs.
High fat is the key to Atkins. Later, when you travel up the rungs and start to eat from a higher variety of carbs, you may want to start trading fat for the carbs and lowering the fat intake (But you don't necessarily have to do so) but for Induction and the first few rungs, your fat NEEDS to be high to get the result s you want.

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
I was pretty low-energy weeks 3-6 - I'm not sure why. It did gradually go away. I just made sure I got lots of sleep (8hrs/night) and worked out 5 or 6 days / week. I never felt "more tired" after exercising...just generally 'low'. I feel much better now
I thought it might be all of the major changes I was making (no caffeine, no sugar, regular vigorous exercise and a heck of a lot less TV!)
I did use fitday & my percentages were good. It was totally worth it - 30 lbs down & 20% of the way to goal!

Re: Anyone to tired to workout?
You will have no way of knowing if you are insulin resistant or not if you eat foods not on the list. The foods that you feel like you can't live without and crave the most are the most likely to be the food you are allergic to or have an intolerance to. We crave the foods that we are allergic to--we are addicted. Sad but true. Your body creates the craving to get its fix.Originally posted by avabelle View PostI'll try but sometimes the nuts are the only thing that get me through on this diet!
Dr. Atkins devoted a whole chapter to this: Chapter 26, page 338. Do yourself a favor and read the whole chapter well.People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."
