Gosh... I know I have seen it a thousand times and just when I need it I can't find the darn thing.. I believe it is a sticky somewhere... but where O' where..

I'm needing to know what is a serving and how many carbs are in different veggies...

Also which veggies to you use the cup measurement v/s the weight measurement... I know example of broccoli, right? To clarify, for example we can have 1 cup of the others ( so if I want to cook a cauliflower recipe using fresh cauliflower, and the recipe calls for 6 cups.. .how big is my serving or how do I figure how many carbs(or net carbs) are in this recipe to divide and what happens to the 1 cup rule???)

    Please , please... help

It is okay if it takes me a little longer to get there, besides this is where I'm going to stay forever and that is a really long time!!!

Dr. Atkins told us we are allowed 3 cups of vegetables per day --- no weight given for any of them. If you want to cook something that asks for 6 cups of cauliflower, assuming there are no other "other vegetables" in the recipe, you will divide the final recipe in 6 servings and have maximum one serving per day during Induction.

      Re: Vegetable Measurements

That is exactly what I was looking for !!! Thanks,

So based upon that which am I allowed to have as a serving:

1 cup cooked broccoli or 1 cup of raw broccoli???

I just plugged it into fit day and here is the results:
      1 cup raw broccoli 5.8 carbs - 2.3 dietary fibers = 3.5 net carbs (1.75 1/2 cup)
      1 cup cooked broccoli 13.2 carbs- 6 dietary fibers = 7.2 net carbs (3.6 1/2 cup)

Now I looked at the DANDR 2002 Book Gram Counter
(1/2) cup broccoli 3.9 grams of fiber (I would assume this is net carbs correct?)

So I guess if I cooked the dish I would divide by 6 but only get 1.75 carbs from it???? Right?

        Re: Vegetable Measurements

The rules say for a vegetable that cooks down significantly, you measure it raw. For example, spinach cooks down "significantly", so it is measured raw.

There is also a thread in the "Low CArb Cooking LEssons" forum that is about measuring.
