Re: Cheated
Stay on plan the rest of the day and you may be all right. Average slice of bread has 12 carbs so if you ate one quarter of the sandwich it would add about 6 grams of carbs from the bread plus the filling. Just be on your guard. I suggest you are better off turning down everything from unknown sources and rely on what you bring to work to be safe.

Re: Cheated
I'm often confronted with sandwiches. Here's what I do: I look them over to see what's in them. Then I pick the one(s) that are the most friendly to my Atkins. Afterwards, I discard one slice of the bread, using the bottom as a plate. With the aid of a knife and fork I eat the filling, discarding the bottom slice.Originally posted by Tinkabell View PostI am soooo annoyed..i am only on the 2nd day of my induction and im stuck at work and a massive platter of sandwiches came in!!! before i knew it i had eaten a quarter of one! But since you are on Day 2, chalk this up to a learning experience. And carry on. Your next meal/snack must be an Atkins Friendly one.

I do this with fast food breakfast sandwiches when I don't feel like asking for it bunless...Originally posted by not2late View PostI discard one slice of the bread, using the bottom as a plate. With the aid of a knife and fork I eat the filling, discarding the bottom slice.

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

Re: Cheated
Take your lunches with you and if they are having food delivered, if possible, avoid the gathering all together.
I live in Texas, but cross the border in to Mexico to work. We have a cafeteria that makes outrageous, authentic Mexican food, so I gained 5 lbs over the last 3 months.
I'm on day 4 of induction and will not go into the cafeteria at lunch time, until my cravings go away.

Re: Cheated
Oh and if you feel guilty about tossing bread away, you could either find a co-worker who's willing to eat it or save it, tear it into pieces and give it to the birds.

Re: Cheated
My brother and I don't normally eat bread and we never did. Yet, when we were little, Mom and Dad used to give us sandwiches because... ummm... one HAS to eat bread. Anyway, so what we were doing was to take the sandwiches and eat them in our room. At least that's what our parents believed.Originally posted by not2late View PostOh and if you feel guilty about tossing bread away, you could either find a co-worker who's willing to eat it or save it, tear it into pieces and give it to the birds.
What was really happening: we were eating the filling (Megs is a lady for using a fork and knife... fingers and tongue were good enough for my brother and I, even if half of the stuff was getting on our nose first and only then into the mouth
) and then we were using the bread to make small balls out of it and throw them at each other like snowballs. After these "fights" it was the only time my brother and I were happy to clean the room together.
My point here. You can make bread balls and annoy your co-workers by throwing the balls at them. It would be fun if you work in a cubicle to throw them at your neighbors, over the wall. Or you can open the window and throw them at people passing by on the street.....
*cough* *cough*
I guess my credibility on the Board has just dropped by 10%.
Better listen to Megs.
