Sounds like all the times I tried to quit smoking. I'd throw my last pack in the garbage... then 20 minutes later I'd be digging it back outta the garbage.

Anyway... you've got to find that certain level of commitment. Something inside of you just makes a decision. The rest will fall into place then.

Anybody can do two weeks though. That's all it is... two easy weeks. If after two weeks of clean induction you want to go back to eating sugar filled poison, you're free to go.

Chances are you'll have a completely different perspective by then. It won't always be easy, but it will be different.

      Re: Please help me!!!!!

We are here to support you however we can. However, when it comes right down to it, it is up to you. You have to decide you want to do this. You have to decide it is worth it (and you are worth it). There is some reason you are stopping yourself from doing this right. Any idea why? I did that to myself and it was a lot of different reasons. Fear. Thinking I would fail, and other negative self talk. It took me a long time but I got to the point where I committed myself to this.

You can do it. When you are struggling, distract yourself with something else. It is a great picture you have and I assume that is your son? Focus on him, doing something with him. Do something in your house, your yard, take a walk, drink water (something I do). Keep doing what you said and keep the "bad" stuff out of the house..be prepared with Atkin's friendly food. At the same time, I find it helpful to not overwhelm myself...I take it one day at a time. For example, it doesn't bother me to not have ice cream because I tell myself.."today I am choosing to not have it. That doesn't mean I will NEVER have it again. Its just today..one day". But as I go on, it gets easier every day and I don't crave that kind of stuff anymore. The control I have over my eating is one of the best parts of Atkins. Honestly, while I have been on Atkins (twice now), this is the only time I recall being in control of what I ate. Feeling like that, and the weight loss is what motivates me every day.

Sorry for going on and on. Good luck...you can do it! Jane

Jane's words are right on the money. Keep trying. Once you finally get one clean day down, you will want to not mess up the following day and before you know it, you will have several days down and bee feeling better about yourself and your willpower. Then you can build from there. Keep trying and don't view each day as a failure. View it as "I almost made it today" instead.

Try affirmations. You need to change the programs running in your mind, and right now 'I am going to only eat induction foods' is not the strongest program... you always follow the strongest program. Right now your 'cheating happens' program is stronger.

I would suggest writing several personal positive affirmations like, I eat foods that make me healthier, or These are the only foods on my menu today with an induction list, and post them all over your house. Repeat and repeat again. Repeat over and over when you are thinking about cheating, while drinking a nice glass of water!

You wrote you give in by late afternoon, so you have to be ready when that weak moment comes. Make an emergency kit and have it always with you, no matter where you go, what you do or how confident you feel that you'll be able to resist temptation. Here's a video by Kent, explaining what an emergency kit should consist of and how it should be used: YouTube - Atkins Diet: Low Carb Emergency Kit

Also make sure you eat when hungry (you can be hungry without hearing your stomach growling) and don't go more than six hours without eating. You might need a snack between lunch and dinner. Have some fat and protein with your meals and spread your veggies throughout the day, to avoid a blood sugar spike.
