  • How do you track your daily carbs?

I am having a hard time getting the hang of tracking my carbs.... I don't know if it is because I just want to eat freely and not have to be told no, I can't have anymore cheese for the day.

Do you right it down, put it in fitday? Do you estimate? I think by not counting I am really kidding myself.

Iv got an app for my iphone called count it off which was free i think u create ur own database of the foods you regularly eat then just select what you eat when ur eating it, I find this much easier than fitday as im in the UK so handy to put in my own foods and its always in my pocket.

I use SparkPeople to track everything - carbs, fiber, fat, protein, calories, water, exercise, etc., etc., and I love it!

Re: How do you track your daily carbs?

I use a spreadsheet when I am planning meals for the week, then Fitday to track actuals. It was time-consuming, but I did Fitday religiously for about 6 weeks. Once I felt I could trust my judgement a bit better, I started using it less (5 days/week, etc) I still use it occasionally to 'check' myself, and when I use a new recipe or add a new food or more carbs (I'm on OWL).

Umm...one more note-you already know that you are over-eating limited items...how is writing it down or putting it into Fitday going to help? Fitday isn't going to reach out of your screen & slap your hand - only YOU can choose what to eat and what not to. No one likes to feel limited as to what they can or can't eat - that's how I got fat

when i started, i wrote everything down. from there i used fitday. i've seen too many people think they are eating the right amount only to find that they are 10 or 15 over the induction limit so yes, i think you might be kidding yourself if you don't keep track of those carbs one way or another.

I use fitday every day. Sparkpeople os great too. I usually jot everything from breakfast and lunch down so I have a ballpark figure of what I should limit at dinner time. So if I have had my cheese allowance, or too many other carbs, I know I need a meat and salad dinner.

I use fitday and find that my life style allows me to chart and measure my carbs ahead of time. I plan my day in the morning and try to keep the schedule of foods I am going to plan on eating that day. Fitday helps me stay within my carb, fat and protein ratios. I also can customize menus and chart water and splenda intake with their program.

I just leave fitday up on my computer all the time. When I eat I enter the foods right away, save and go on my merry way... by the end of the day I know where my numbers are and figure out how big of a dinner I can have...

Re: How do you track your daily carbs?

I use fitday, I track everything I put in my mouth (except water). I have been at this for a few months and don't really measure quantities as much as I use to. I guesstimate a lot on veggies. It is also easier for my boyfriend when he cooks, all he has to write down or tell me is example: A handful of mushrooms. But I do weigh them every now and then just to make sure. As for cheese and liquids I still measure.

I use to use caloriecountplus but they don't show the portions as well as fitday.

                    Good luck.

I use Carb Tracker for my iPhone to track Net Carbs, water, and weight. It has most foods in it and any that it does not, I add to it with a custom food.

Used to track them in FitDay and in a food journal (the old fashioned pen & paper kind, not an online food journal). Lately I've been only tracking them in my food journal.

I used to use FitDay daily track everything I put in my mouth. I highly recommend doing this when you first begin the program as it is often amazing to realize what you are consuming once you see it on "paper."

However, once I got used to what amounts of foods I could eat within my carb range, I used FitDay less and less, mainly because it was harder to use when making recipes and knowing exact quantities of ingredients, portions, etc. I have learned what foods get me in trouble and accepted how they may be used in my diet.

Nuts, cream and cheese get me into trouble so I have limited myself to using them only in recipes to stay on the losing track. (No cheese as a snack item - too easy to eat an 8 oz block in one sitting when I do that!)

I use Fitday -- when putting food in I use the raw version then add the oil I've used because I have no idea how they are preparing the foods....I also put a lot of foods in custom so I know what I'm eating I am actually tracking correctly. I measure everything, that way I can see if I need to tweak anything.
