  • Cheated during a horribly stressful night

I feel like a failure tonight. Had a horrible domestic dispute, decided officially to get divorced and I took a fingerful of parmesean chicken and sauce with a bit of breading and ate it. Literally a taste no bigger than the top of my thumb, but none the less totally negates the last few days. Now that my stomach is feeling a bit better I have to start over completely.

The best thing to do is not to beat~up on your self, learn from your mistake & get right back on track tomorrow AM, knowing that we are all human & most of us on the program may slip~up from time to time!!!

The other GREAT option is that is is why we have this AWESOME Forum to turn to, to spill the beans so to
speak, for support & friendship & move~on to another great ANA Healthy Whole Foods Filled Day!!!

don't start over just get up in the morning and stick with the plan....if you had gone off all day and eaten everything bad for you I'd say start over......but it's really not that bad.

when you get stressed find something else to do....I walk or ride my stationary bike. To begin with I always walked because I couldn't get to the cupboards or refrigerator when I was half way down the street! Find something that will help with the stress...turn it around to work for you not against you.

I'm on my 3rd marriage so I remember the feelings you're having -- hang in there!!

Forget it and move on. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes and I agree with imagood1. It's not as if you sat down and ate a gallon of ice cream. Tomorrows a new day so make the best of it.

So sorry for the problems in your relationship. Since they can be emotional rollercoasters, be determined that you will not let it be a reason for you not to meet your personal goals. Be healthy and happy for yourself. Look for ways to stay active and keep your mind focused on you.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

I completely agree. My daily "non-marriage" is exactly what has kept me on an emotional eating binge for the past 2-3 years. I finally decided that allowing him to make me feel bad about myself which in turn sent me to the fridge or pantry was no going to be allowed anymore. I still feel bad, but I don't allow my feelings to be compounded with guilt over what I put in my mouth. It is a daily struggle to stay on track. Don't give up - you are not alone

Hang in there, chgomom. As hard as things seem now there is always a silver lining and one of those for you is a healthier lifestyle and increased confidence. (I find increased confidence in just knowing I have the discipline to do this woe.)
Don't beat yourself up about a little cheat now and again. You're human and you're ability and will to do this at all is incredible in and of itself.
Stay the course and keep your chin up. Things will get better and your waistline WILL get smaller.
