  • Is this true????

I was reading some recipies and came across this:

    "and if you
make it with liquid Splenda or a sugar alcohol, you can get
the carbs down to 2..otherwise they are about 4..because of
the Splenda's filler..or you could probably use the little packages
    3=the sweetness of 1/4 cup. "

Is this true?? and how exactly do we count Liquid Splenda? Liquid Splenda = DaVinci Syrup???

Yes it is true ... it takes less of the liquid than it does of the granules ... so your carbs will be less with the liquid...unfortunately, I can't find it here!

Yep, the filler for the Splenda packets is a carb (hence the .6-1 carb per packet count). The liquid Splenda is just straight Splenda and should have very few if any carbs in it.

You can order liquid splenda on line from a company called Sweetzfree or something like that. I have ordered from there at the recommendation of some other poster -- maybe 2Big. I bet if you do a search for liquid splenda or sweetzfree, you can find it. I also think that Netrition has some liquid splenda stuff too.

You may need to save up for a while or take out a second mortgage! It's steep! But one drop is the equivalent of a tsp of sugar, or something like that!

Thanks for the quick answers. But now it leads me to another one ... what is DaVinci Syrup? Its made with Splenda, but how is it counted? as one carb per tablespoon?

I'll be sure to look for the liquid splenda ... no matter the cost, I'll use it.

It's carb free. But you still have to count one serving as one of your 3 daily sweeteners.

I don't use it very often, but whenever I do I count it as 1 net carb---more as a psychological thing than anything else because it's too tempting for me to think "well, since it's 0 carbs, I can have more of it.."

I just ordered 2oz of Liquid Splenda from http://www.sweetzfree.com/
which equals 48 cups of sugar sweetness. Cost me $32! But this is a WOL and I'll be using this for a long long time.

I buy the liquid splenda and yes it is Expensive- but a bottle of it lasts me for at least a year. I buy it online- it is worth it to me to not have to count it if I put it in my coffee- because the coffee has a carb or two depending on the size of the cup, and so does the cream- can't afford the extra carb for sweetener. I know I would be better off just quiting the coffee- but it is the one thing I cannot or don't want to give up! I love the stuff!

you can't buy liquid splenda in North America in the stores. however you can buy liquid sucrolose which is the name of the sweetner that is called Splenda minus the fillers. the stuff from the sweetzfree.com site is 25 drops is equal to a cup of sugar so a drop is about 2teaspoons of sweetness and the same sweetening power as the packets without the carbs. I'm Splenda challenged so i can't tell you how well it works but several of our cooking folk use it and like it.

I'm not sure if anyone has a Smart & Final store in their area. Over here, I can buy a large bottle of Torani syrup in many flavors. There's vanilla, strawberry, chocolate (yucky, sorry), raspberry (my favorite) for only $3.99. I think that they have caramel, irish creme, and coconut flavors in the sugar free too.

Check out the website if you don't live in a place with a Smart & Final.
Torani syrups are MUCH cheaper than DaVinci.

I use the raspberry to sweeten my cheesecakes. MMMM, Good!
