  • What to Eat at a Carnival!?

My family and I are going to a carnival tonight and I am pretty sure that I may not have anything to eat there - maybe a plain hot dog is the only thing I can think of - anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?

I just got over a weight loss stall (due to drinking Mike's Hard Lemonade at my college graduation party) and I am not about to put myself into that situation again, so looking for some ideas if there are any.

    Thanks!

I have moved this thread from the original forum (Restaurants) it was posted in so it is more likely to get responses in time for the poster to benefit from any advice.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I have no idea what sort of 'eats' will be available at a Carnival in Illinois, but what I would do is make sure I take some 'emergency rations' with me in case I can find nothing 'legal'.

For induction I used to make cheese 'crackers' as they travel well without refrigeration and maybe pack some chopped up veggies and a dip of some kind. Another idea is SunnySmile501's crispy crackers which I will post the link to when I find the thread.

Will there be any normal fast food outlets serving foods? One of the sticky threads in the induction forum gives some company websites where you can plan in advance which of their dishes are most suitable.

Above all do make sure you take a large water bottle with you so you don't get dehydrated!

Re: What to Eat at a Carnival!?

I wouldn't eat anything at a carnival that I didn't prepare and bring with me! I call that "stranger food." I'm not into risking stranger food! I wouldn't even trust the hot dogs there. I only eat real beef dogs and I doubt they'll have any high end "select" beef hot dogs for you there. I'll post a link to an old thread about portable snack ideas. If I were you, I would eat a filling meal right before I leave. Then, I would have a few back up snacks in a bag. I have so many plastic and glass portable lidded dishes now, that I have no excuse not to always have back up with me. Don't fall for the carnie foods!! Tempting, yes, sometimes BUT, just remind yourself how nasty it might be also...my ex wouldn't let our son eat anything at a place like that just because of cleanliness alone. Good luck!! Come back tomorrow and let us know how great it felt not to cave into the temptations!!

Thanks for the info and the great suggestions guys. Really appreciate it. With two kids I am all about the portable snack foods so this is golden information for me!

Most fairs, and probably carnivals, have giant grilled turkey legs.

I worked at a church booth at the local carvinal here - the turkey legs we served were loaded with spices and sugars to help with the "flavorings". I agree with Ever -- take your own food!!!

hi.. .I would personally eat a good meal right before I go... so you are full... and still if you want to take a snack.. take some pork rinds!!
