  • Has anyone else noticed...

Has anyone else noticed that after being on atkins and getting rid of all junk food - sugars - high fructose corn s*** - etc...etc... that they are sleeping better?

I've been living my new way of life now for 6 months (January 3rd - now) and one thing I've DEFINITELY noticed a HUGE improvement on is my sleep!

I used to be the kind that absolutely HAD to take a sleeping pill to get a full night's sleep - and most of the time I'd end up still waking up a few times during the night. I also - before I ever took sleeping pills - seriously used to be the kind that would wake up almost every hour or every other hour. I'd toss and turn like freakin' crazy and this is how I've slept pretty much since I was a child.

Now, I'm not saying things are perfect, by any means - but my sleep patterns have gotten SO much better! I still will take a sleeping pill once in a huge while - but for the most part, anymore, and I'd say maybe the last 2 months or so - my body has FINALLY decided it's time to sleep!

I don't know if it really is from giving up junk food and eating right with healthy fats and vegees and whatnot - but I would never rule it out and probably say that it definitely IS a huge factor in it - cuz c'mon - that's the ONLY thing I've really changed!

Has anyone else noticed that they sleep better? Cuz, I know - for me - this is a HUGE thing as I've seriously NEVER slept this well in my life - and I had actually considered doing a sleep study in the past it got so bad.

What about other things? Anyone else notice anything else that has changed for them - physically - (asides from the weight loss, of course) now that you don't eat junk food or sugar anymore?

I know I sleep WAY better (well I did, until I got a puppy a couple weeks ago). I think its a combinaion of the exercise and not eating sugar.

My acne cleared up within a couple weeks of starting - woo hoo!! I've also not had a cold or flu since I started - I've gotten the "I'm getting a cold" symptoms like a scratchy throat, sneezing, but it has gone away within a couple days

I think my mood has improved from having more stable blood sugar - I used to get *almost* hyper, then low, then hyper...

No "bad" effects either (after induction that is).

On the nights no one in the house is sick, there aren't any storms, and the fireworks aren't going off like we live in the middle of a war zone I sleep wonderfully!! I agree it's the combination of our new lifestyles (food, exercise, etc).

For the most part my moods are much more even than before - although please don't p*ZZ me off....it can still be done.........

Ok off to take a shower, I just finished doing the 30 Day Shred with Jillian & I look like a wet rag!

        Re: Has anyone else noticed...

I go to sleep at midnight and wake up on my own between 0600-0645 and even if it is a day I can sleep in, I don't feel like lying in bed anymore. I seem to jump right up and start the day. I get a lot more done for my business myself and don't have to hire as many people this year because I am doing things myself. Last year I felt like I was dragging myself around.

I noticed this the first time I did Atkins and it was one of my big selling points when trying to explain to others the benefit of Atkins.

Now that I'm a stay-at-home-mom, I'm so physically exhausted at the end of the day that I could consume sugar and caffeine all day long and sleep just fine, LOL. But obviously there are other reasons not to eat like that.
