  • Help I've hit a plateau in induction

Hi Guys tomorrrow is my last day of induction and I have only lost 6 pounds. I usually am under 20 carbs a day but I do eat about a cup of cubed chedder cheese a day. I thought I'd at least be down 10. The scale has not moved. Any recommendations?

Dr. atkins defined a plateau as 4 consecutive weeks without the loss of pounds or inches. So you aren't in a plateau.

It's normal to not lose weight everyday.

About that cup of cubed cheddar.....cheese is limited to 3-4 ounces daily. I don't know how much that cup of cubed cheddar weighs, but if it is over 3-4 ounces, then you need to cut back to the proper amount.

Re: Help I've hit a plateau in induction

Well, you do seem to know you are overeating cheese (1 cup diced cheddar is about 5 oz), so the first thing to do is stick to the 3-4 oz Induction limit. Also remember this is the maximum you can eat. Just because you can eat 3-4 oz of cheese it does not mean you must eat 3-4 oz.

You could also post a few complete menus in the "Review My Menu" forum (please include quantities too) and we can take a look over them. Are you exercising? Taking a multivitamin? Drinking enough water?

But that being said, I'm not sure why you expected 10 lbs. Given the weight you have to lose, 8 lbs lost during the first two weeks of Induction correspond to an average metabolic resistance. Since you didn't follow the Rules of Induction to a tee, you might have slowed down your weight loss so you lost only 6 lbs instead of 8. Or your degree of metabolic resistance might be slightly higher than average, but it's impossible to say now since your Induction wasn't "perfect".

My advise - get your portions under control and move on to OWL Rung 1 -- add 5 net carbs of veggies. It really won't do any good to re-do induction because you won't get any better results so move on.

Measuring everything you eat is very important - post a copy of the acceptable food list with the amounts your allowed and weigh everything you eat. Good luck.

Start exercise. If nothing else, walk. It'll do wonders.

And I would like to sing the praises of eggs instead of cheese.

Re: Help I've hit a plateau in induction

I only lost 7lbs or so in induction, some people are just slow losers. Be happy you are at least losing something. I was trilled with the weight I had lost but mostly I was happy I was becoming healthier.

As others had said, get your portions under control and move one to OWL Rung 1.

            Good luck.

Thanks for all who responded. I have cut way back on the cheese. I am eating fish, tuna, and eggs now. I am down 8.
