  • Aqua Fitness...not so bad!

To those out there who don't like exercising but like to swim, I would definitely recommend doing laps or an aqua fitness class. I don't feel like I'm exercising at all! I didn't think I'd be able to do it because of the time availability but it IS possible. I do it over my lunch hour. The pool is a few blocks from work. When I do laps, I go and swim laps for 35 minutes. This gives me enough time afterwards to get dressed and ready to head back to the office. I tie my hair up into a bun on top of my head so my hair doesn't get too wet. I just stick to strokes that I can do without having to put my head in the water. Works pretty well! I know it might now work for everyone but...

I took my aqua fitness class this morning. I was surrounded by a bunch of older people but it was okay. My instructor was really nice. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the people watching the class made me feel odd. But I just ignored them and remembered why I was there! I'm signed up to do this class 3x per week for an hour. It definitely gets you breathing but it doesn't feel painful or exhausting. It's great! I think I'll also still do laps 2x per week, too. I'm excited to see if this type of exercise will kick things in gear!!

I have wondered about aquafit classes. There are quite a few offered and I haven't tried one yet. (And I am into trying all kinds of exercise things - just so I don't miss something I would actually like)

you burn as many calories just treading water as you do swimming laps, so there is no problem if you want to just pop in the water and not get the hair wet. Add those foam dumbbells and it will really work the upper body! And yes.. it is like not working out, you feel energized. I do tend to feel hungrier on swimming days though...
