Today is my last day of induction and I am down 8. I secretly hoped to be under 200 pounds, but I knew it would be a long shot. Whenever I read the post of people on induction, I am seeing the min. of 10 pounds. I am curious about how much the average person loses on induction. I want to be under 200 ASAP.

Re: How Much Did You Lose During Induction?
hello! I lost 8 pounds during induction and then started to average about 1 pound a week after that. I would get frustrated, but I REFUSED to give up - and it is 6 months and 1 week later and I'm down 26 pounds! (which averages about 1 pound a week this year! but not necessarily every week...in fact some weeks = NO loss at all...but i just kept going because I have no other choice.) And even now, I've slowed down rediculously but I've changed my habits so much now that while I can't wait to get to my goal - I'm also not killing myself or getting frustrated that I can't get rid of these last 10 pounds as fast as I'd like. I'm no longer feeling like I'm in a race.
Just a side note - celebrate the 8 pounds you've lost!!! I think it's FABULOUS You've lost 8 pounds! Same for anyone out there who's "only" lost 2 - 5 pounds during induction - celebrate that as well! every single pound lost should be a celebration.
I know you want to be under 200 right NOW...(believe me, I'd LOVE to be at 160 right NOW)...but just remember this - keep on doin' atkins the right way and relax - it'll happen and before you know it, you'll be WAY below 200 before you even know it!
Just wanted to encourage you in case you're feeling frustrated.
And believe me - not everyone loses 10 or more pounds on induction - everyone is very different. I know - for me - I started getting frustrated about 3 months in because by then, I kept thinking I saw that "most people" had lost about 30 pounds in 3 months yet I'd only lost 16 pounds. But I kept going because going back to my old habits which had made me fat was absolutely not an option. This works. You just need to be patient.

Re: How Much Did You Lose During Induction?
The rule of thumb is that we can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose during the 14 Day Induction.. So if you have a 100 pound weight loss goal, you can expect to lose 5-10 pounds. If you have a 10 pound weight loss goal, you can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound.
Don't discourage yourself into thinking "only" 5 pounds or "only" 8 pounds, like that's so insignificant you might as well have lost 1/2 ounce. If you don't think that's significant, go to the supermarket and pick up a 5 pound bag of flour and carry it in your arms up and down the aisles---then you'll see how significant "only" 5 pounds is.

Re: How Much Did You Lose During Induction?
don't worry about what other people loose -- your body is not the same, you aren't eating the exact meals they are - do your best to loose what you can - don't cheat, exercise, drink plenty of water and be happy with what YOU loose.
the worst thing you can do is compare yourself to "everyone else" -- it's the best way to defeat yourself before you really get started.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: How Much Did You Lose During Induction?
I lost 6.5lbs during induction. Yes, I would have liked to have lost more yet at the same time I was thrilled to have lost something. I have factors that can make me resistant to weight loss, so I was prepared to not lose weight. And what I said to myself is that it is 6.5 pounds that I had 2 weeks ago, and it would still be with me if it wasn't for Atkins.
Anyhoo..GRATS on your 8lbs. Keep up the good work!
Jane
PS...I picked up a big bag of dog food at the store yesterday. It weighed 17lbs. And it suddenly occured to me that is how much weight I have lost! Suddenly seemed like a lot.

Re: How Much Did You Lose During Induction?
I lost 18 lbs my first 2 weeks. And even though I had a great loss then and continue to, I get stuck like everyone else. I will sit at a stall for 2 weeks sometimes only to lose 1lb lol. Do not give up! You have to learn that the scale isn't your friend. It's just a tool to see how far you've come. You can also fluctuate 4+ lbs a day of water weight. Please don't let these things throw you off track! Just keep plugging away

Re: How Much Did You Lose During Induction?
8lbs is fabulous! I've lost 12 so far this time around which is really good for me. It depends on how much weight you have to lose. Remember you're only supposed to lose 5-10% of the amount you're trying to lose.
