  • Any sites you use to buy atkins/low carb products?

Do you use any online sites to buy atkins/low carbs products? ive been looking at lowcarbmegastore.com and the products are so appealing but not sure which ones are really legal or not. are there any other websites you use?

If it's not on the acceptable foods list it's not "legal" for induction.....

What type of foods are you looking for?

i was looking at the da vinci syrup and there is a whole section which states no carb products. surely they must be acceptable if they have no carbs and are sugar free?

I have not used this site in years, so I am not sure what they have. I used this site when I did Atkins back in '03. I ate a lot of frankenfood that time.

        Anyhoo...it is www.netrition.com

You can find DaVinci syrups at Walmart, at World Market, our local food chain has it --- look in the regular pancake syrup aisle -- if it's not there look in the coffee aisle. I bought 2 large bottles of the maple syrup from Netrition's site and was upset when I went to our local grocery store and could have gotten it there (the same day - not waiting for shipping) for half the price.....check your local area first.

As far as I know, in Europe you can only order Da Vinci syrups online.

For the UK, this is a good site: Atkins Product, bar | Low Carb Megastore, Carbohydrate Diet, shopping, chocolate, diet, food

Check the ingredients or ask around here before buying something you're not sure about.

Hi Georgina, that was the site i was looking at today, there is a section which has zero carbs products, none of the items have ingredients in it, would i be safe if i stuck to the zero carb part? what have you brought on there that you could recommend?

0 carb does not mean safe.
Click on the product info then on the bottom you see a tab that says ingredients - now click and that one and read. These ingredients have to be legal.
                  The DaVincis are safe.

Re: Any sites you use to buy atkins/low carb products?

thanks for that liv, alot of the products i looked at had no ingredients listed which means i cant risk it.

can someone have a look at this for me?
Maltitol syrup, mannitol, hydrogenated vegetable fats, colour: caramel(E150d), flavour, geletine, salt, emulsifiers: E322, E471, sweetener: aspartame (E951).

i think only the aspartame is not good right?

                    also please :
Egg Whites, Isomalt, Dried Egg White, Alkalized Defatted Cocoa Powder, Inulin (Vegetable Fiber), Tartaric Acid, Sucralose (Splenda Brand). Excessive consumption of Isomalt may have an laxative effect.

Re: Any sites you use to buy atkins/low carb products?

The first product has a lot of sugar alcohols - maltitol and mannitol. These can be tricky because some of us process the sugar in them so we have to be careful. Some of us gets gassy or have other stomach issues when eating maltitol in particular. So I would try it but I would be careful.
We also try to avoid hydrogenated vegetable fats because it is trans fats.

The other product also has a sugar alcohol, isomalt. Again something to watch for. Cocoa powder may be legal in induction in small amounts.
                      So what are these things?

the second product is this lovely looking chocolate meringue cookie type treat

Miss Meringue - Chocolate | Low Carb Megastore

i was just curious if i could have it i am actually scared it might affect my weight loss so might just give it a miss for awhile. i would like to try that da vinci syrup but its £5.99 for the product then £5 delivery so it works out cheaper if i buy afew more items at once. thanks for your help though liv.

Ohh on rung three I would go for a chocoperfection bar - not too chemical at all.
On induction I thought some of the spices looked good - also the jello mixes with splenda or the sugar free tomato sauces (unless these are products you can find where you are)

You can always contact the office and ask them for further info if the ingredients are not listed online - I have always found them helpful once I explain that I am on strict Atkins and need to check ingredients before ordering.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
