    hi everyone

I can't help you with the running part of your question, but I can tell you this: Atkins isn't "no carbs and high protein." It is a low carb, moderate protein, and high fat diet. What's in your daily menu?

        Re: training for race

We have several members who run marathons on Atkins low carb without feeling the need to 'carb up'

One that springs to mind is ttdriver. Maybe you can find some of her posts in the exercise forum and see how she does it?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

hey sarny i replied to your first post heres the link if you missed it

edit: oh i didnt look i guess i replied to your 2nd post and not your 1st in that link lol

also the atkins diet is not no carbs / high protein its super high fat , medium protein , super low carb

if your a body builder you could be super high fat , high protein , super low carb

          anyways try and aim for a % like this 65% fat , 30% protein , 5% carbs
fitday.com can help you get that % remember it doesnt have to be spot on its just to aim for

eggs are a good choice they are 61% fat

and remember when you first start atkins you will get the induction flu but also your muscles will feel weak for the first week or so

during the week your body will produce more insulin receptors on your muscles and your muscles will become insulin sensitive and by then your muscles will feel strong again

so really if you got a marathon in a few months you gotta get on the atkins diet asap i think its best to be on the diet for a good 6 weeks first to fully adapt and so to be good and ready for a marathon

remember to eat lots of fat and drink lots of water too
