I drink water during the night as well as all day long -- if you feel dehydrated you should drink, regardless of the time.

I don't think you should drink water while you are sleeping. If you should wake up, you could drink some.

I make sure I have a little water with me at all times. I tend to drink a bottle (75cl) before I go to bed and then take a glass with me so if I was to wake up it would be there...but I also wake up once or twice a night to empty my bladder.

        If thirsty drink.

I drink a ton of water. My dr actually tried to tell me I was drinking too much, especially since it interfers with my sleep.
I do sometimes have nights I don't wake up but most nights I do wake up to go to the bathroom. If I get up, I drink more water. I could down a 20 oz bottle but usually stop myself from drinking the whole thing.
I have decided I love my water more than my sleep.
So I agree..if you are thirsty, drink.

I wish I could say drinking water during the middle of the night is what keeps me up but I've been waking up 3 or 4 times a night for years...WAY longer than I've been drinking the amount of water I'm drinking now. I figure if I'm up I might as well drink something.

What others have said. If you wake up and you're thirsty, there's nothing wrong in drinking water at night.

I wouldn't set me alarm clock to wake me up to drink water though.....

i got a habbit of drinking lots of water before i sleep so i changed my habbit to no more than 3 chugs of water before i sleep so i dont wake up in the night from my bladder

but i dont stick to it 100% if its hot out and im thirsty then il drink more

I keep a small bottle of water by my bed and I also feel thirsty in the night even a few sips are enough.

                      Re: Dehydrated at night

There is nothing unhealthy about drinking water at night. After all, your metabolism continues to jug along, and water is essential for a healthy life. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a gallon, but I can happily say that I get up once a night to drink a few ounces, go the bathroom and go back to sleep. During induction and OWL1-3, I was maybe waking up twice a night. Generally coincides with the end of a sleep cycle.

During Atkins, when your body is in ketosis even while you sleep, I would suspect that you should drink heartily before going to bed. Any ideas, anyone?

Well last night I got a glass of water and put it by my dresser.
I never slept sadly.. I had this constant thirst, I had some water a few times
but I also tried to ignore it for awhile
but it didn't go.. Do you think it'll be like this forever?
Im getting less sleep than I ever have had before.

honestly - I would just forget about it -- it seems you are stressing way to much over it. If you wake up and are thirsty, drink something -- if not don't drink anything.

its normal to get less sleep on this diet most people sleep less while on atkins cause its so healthy

if you needed 9 hours of sleep before atkins then now you may only need 8

I apologize if you already answered this earlier in the post, but are you drinking enough during the day? I find that if I front-load my water during the day, I'm less thirsty at night.

With that said, I do find that I usually develop a sudden an strong thirst in the evenings. I have no idea why, and it's a total pain because I spend half my night running to the bathroom!
