      Ugh... You should work, people!

So lemme guess...... They are saying Dr. Atkins died because his arteries were clogged from eating fat and he was obese when he died, right?

This is an interview from Larry King Live with Veronica Atkins, discussing Dr. Atkins' death: CNN.com - Transcripts

And this is an article that explains why Dr. Atkins weighed 258 lbs at the time of his death: The Death of Dr. Atkins

If your work colleagues get really bored, they could read some of the studies showing the health benefits of low-carb, high fat diets. Or they could read Dr. Mary Enig's book, "Know Your Fats". Or if they don't want to buy the book (yeah, I know they don't), they can just go online here: WAPF: Know Your Fats

        Robert Atkins

Robert Coleman Atkins, MD (October 17, 1930 in Columbus, OhioApril 17, 2003 in New York City) was an American physician and cardiologist, best known for the Atkins Nutritional Approach (or "Atkins Diet"), a popular but controversial way of dieting that entails close control of carbohydrate consumption, emphasizing protein and fat intake, including saturated fat in addition to leaf vegetables and dietary supplements.
Atkins graduated from the University of Michigan in 1951 and received a medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in 1955, after which he specialized in cardiology and complementary medicine.
On April 8, 2003, at age 72, a day after a major snowstorm in New York, Dr. Atkins slipped on the ice while walking to work, hitting his head and causing bleeding around his brain. He lost consciousness on the way to the hospital, where he spent two weeks in intensive care. His death certificate states that the cause of death was "blunt impact injury of head with epidural hematoma".[1]

Oh Norman, you know low carbing makes us wobbly on our feet! It's that extra poundage that keeps us stable. Tsk, tsk...

Yes, Georgiana, I know. We are murdering our cardiovascular health since we do not eat high carbs and restrict fats. Oh, and we are becoming less fit because we are losing so much muscle on the A.D. Everybody knows carbohydrates are the performance food.

This diet is so unnatural. I'm sure the archeological findings point to a "Fred Flintstone" type of prehistoric society where supermarkets were abundant and our ancestors grabbed healthy refined carbs right off the shelf...

Back to the loss of muscle mass and fitness on the A.D.:

THAT'S WHY I CAN'T USE MY AB WHEEL ANY LONGER TO PERFORM CORE EXERCISES! MY DELTOIDS HAVE GOTTEN SO BIG THEY HIT THE SIDE OF MY HEAD WHEN I TRY TO GO PRONE....

Re: Articles to defend Dr Atkins anyone?

Whoa is me .... When I began Atkins, I was very overweight, diabetic, hypertensive, had been hospitalized with congestive heart failure, couldn't walk more than 20 feet without getting winded. I followed Atkins and here I am, having lost a lot of weight, no longer on any diabetic or hypertensive medication, I walk and swim every day. Good grief. Where did I fail???

My only regret is that I never got to thank Dr. Atkins, personally! Bless him. I don't defend him. I live this way of eating and damn those who think I'm doing something wrong. I don't really care about them.
