  • DANDR VS Atkins for life

I am on day four of induction and it has been incredibly easy to live with.

The book I am following is DANDR2002. I have used it because I already had a copy. I lost a lot of weight before but fell off low carb and put most of it back on. I notice also that this board follows the same book.

What are the differences between this book and the newer "Atkins for life" I am assuming since it was published after the doctor's death it would be promoting the Atkins line of products more. Any other differences?

The focus in AFL is a bit different. It is focussing on the maintaining phase of the diet. I think the main thing that was changed between DANDR and AFL is that they took out the alcohol rung "because in is not a nutritive carbohydrate and Hould not be consumed in the place of food".

    Just adding:
And you are right about products. The Atkins company at that point (since DANDR had been such a hit) started to develop a bunch of products (bake mizes, muffing mixes etc) so the menu section and the recipe section (and the cook book that accompanied this book) did encourage you to use a lot of these products

I'm so glad I bought DANDR and not AFL! An odd glass of wine with meals made my diet so much more enjoyable.

You are allowed wine in AFL - they took out the rung thing.
