  • re-starting the diet from Monday

    hello all.

    im 28 f from India.

    i was visiting my parents , last week ... and my mum was pretty sick .
    I have a habit of EMOTIONAL binging ... and i did eat all wroing food.

    as a result my weight is 68 kg ( increased by a kilo).

    now yet again .. im going to try to give it a shot from Monday .


    just few concerns?
    >>
    1. how many calories are allowed in a day..i read somewhere ..just 100 calories a day ?
    ( not the book )
    2. can we eat hot dogs?
    3. iv noted some white spots on my neck back and rashes over all . is it possible it could be due to the diet ?( i know not possible..but wanted to just make sure)

    100 Calories per day? Well, 100 Calories is like an egg and a cup of cauliflower. Not quite enough for one day.

    It is not necessary to count calories on Atkins and there is no limit on them. You should eat when hungry or when 6 hours have passed since your last meal. And you should stop eating when your hunger was satisfied, not when you are full or stuffed. Some days you'll eat more, some days you'll eat less. It's all normal.

    Check the ingredients. They often have sugar (e.g. dextrose) in them.

    Nope, Atkins does not give cause white spots on the skin and rashes.

    Before Monday, it would be a good idea to make some time and read the Induction FAQs. Much of the information there will help you in the next two weeks.

      Good luck this time -- some additional information other than what Georgiana gave you is:

      The 2002 DANDR book which is the edition we follow. It’s a good idea to get your own copy of the book for reference. You can find one pretty cheap on www.amazon.com or www.half.com -- make sure you get the 2002 edition.

      Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water each day, including:
      Filtered water
      Mineral water
      Spring water
      Tap water

      *** Crystal Light, sugar free teas, sf kool-aid, sf sodas and, coffee do not count toward your daily total. PURE water is the only thing that counts. Induction is the time to end food and drink addictions – water will help do that.

      The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Remember – if a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list it doesn’t belong in your mouth – no exceptions!

      I eat Nathan's Hot Dogs or Hebrew National because they don't have the fillers in them that the cheap ones do - but I don't have them very often. When you are reading the ingredients labels make sure you look for things that end in "ose" (like dextrose) -- they are always sugars and will keep you from loosing. Also watch your salt intake so you won't retain water. No starches, no Atkins bars and shakes -- make sure you eat plenty of veggies throughout the day along with meat and cheese (3 - 4 oz limit daily on cheese).

        You should see a physican right away. I don't want to sound very alarming, but I recently saw an episode of an old medical TV show called "Marcus Welby MD". And he had a patient with white spots who lived in the Tropics for a time. That person had leprosy. So please see a physician immediately.
