  • 2.5 weeks into Atkins, am I still in the 'stall' phase? I heard 2-3rd week are stalls

I'm 2.5 weeks into Atkins and the scale hasn't moved since the first week. Hopefully someone else has some experience with stalls around this time frame.

Oh, and by the way I am following strict induction (extended induction) and show purple on my ketostix daily. Thanks.

Can you post a menu for a full day or so? Also, don't rely so much on the stix, they aren't always reliable for everyone. I know, they can be motivating but then again not.

How are your inches, are you losing inches instead of lbs?

Keep at it, most will say they stall during this period!!

check this site to determine if you have a "true stall" I found it on an older post in here. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ot-linear.html

Also.....purple on your ketostix says that yes you are in ketosis but you are also dehydrated. You NEED to drink pure water....(pure water - nothing added to it but ice)

Just a few things I've picked up while on here.

Have been on induction for 5 weeks and have lost a total of 10 lbs which is right on course BUT week 3 and 4 I lost none and then stared to lose
again this week which is my 5th week....hang in...if you follow the diet
you will lose....I also showed purple on the ketostix while I was stalled.
        Hope this helps!

While I can't quote selective passages of DANDR (2002) as some others can, I have read the book several times. I've had questions about ketosis myself from time-to-time, and I've re-read those portions relating to ketosis several times.

I use the sticks and I've had sticks turn light pink to deep purple and I've been stalled for 10 days myself. Since I drink 80 plus oz. of water every day, I have never though of myself as being "dehydrated" when the sticks are purple.

I know there are those who never "turn the sticks," Dr. Atkins address the concerns of those people in his book. But for those of us who do use the sticks, please quit telling us "they're a waste of money," "they don't work," "if your stick turns deep purple, you're dehydrated." The sticks are recommended and encouraged by Dr. Atkins. While it is true those who don't drink enough water can show deep purple, those who are following Atkins to the letter (as OP stated) are drinking enough water to not be dehydrated!! I do know that a lot of fat in your diet will cause the sticks to turn dark purple. Most of the time I'm trace or small.

Now, as to the "stall." I know my body. I weighed what I do now for many, many years. My body knows this weight and likes it here. I've just got to wait it out, the body will finally give in and let me have my way, of this I'm sure! I think this is what happens to many people, it's just something they don't consider when they're looking for those darn scales to drop!

A stall is defined as 4 consecutive weeks without any loss of pounds or inches. So 2.5 weeks is not a stall, though I know it's frustrating. Nor are 10 days.

If I were you, I would consider moving to OWL and adding 5 net carbs more of vegetables. They might give you the nutrients your body needs to start losing weight again.

As others have repeated here and in your previous threads, it's difficult to say what is wrong without knowing your menu, your exercise, etc. I saw your "1000 calorie breakfast" thread this morning. Are your meals similar to that one, so are you eating 3000 calories per day? Please give us more details about your menu.

If your menu is fine (no caffeine, no aspartame, no frankenfoods, etc.), you are not taking any medication, you are exercising, you are counting everything not just guesstimating and four weeks have passed without a loss of pounds or inches, then you need to look at other things that might mess up your weight loss, such as vitamin deficiencies, Candida, food intolerances (anything you added recently?) or thyroid problems.
