  • Wanna chat?

    At the moment talking with someone in the Chat Box is about as fast as mailing a letter, so I'm sure we can make better use of it. What do you think of a weekly scheduled chat? There are members from all over the world, so people are in different time zones, and we need to keep that in mind when setting the day & time. We might end up with more groups, based on time zones.

    What I'd like to ask those of you who are interested in chatting, could you vote in the poll above? The times are UTC, so you will need to transform them to your time zone! If you did a mistake when voting, please PM me the correction I should make.

    To go from UTC to your time zone, check this website: The World Clock – Time Zone Converter

    Under "Select time and place to convert from", enter one of the times in the poll above (the one you want to convert); leave the location unchanged, it should be "UTC/GMT". Under "Select place to convert to", choose from the list of locations the one where you live (or the closest), then click "Convert time". You will be given a table with three columns. In the second row of second column, you should see the time you wanted to convert (the one from the poll, so UTC). Below it, you should see the converted time (where you live). For example, let's say you live in Baltimore and want to see what 8pm in the poll (UTC) means for Baltimore. If you follow the instructions above, you'll get this:



    so 8pm UTC is 4pm in Baltimore.

    Please reply here if you have a day preference. The number of choices in the poll is limited and I cannot include days and times.

    You can choose more than one option.

    All votes are public, but I imagine this should not bother anyone. If you don't want others to know what you voted, PM me with your choice(s).

      OK the UTC have me confused already. Sorry. Can we just have a quick North American Translation?
      The first one midnight to 3 AM that would be 6PM to 9PM CST or 5-8 on the West Coast and 8-10 at the East Coast?

          For the UK, UTC is the same as GMT without daylight saving time. If you go by BST (that is, with daylight saving time), then add an hour to the UTC.

          Now it's 8 PM UTC.

          In Berlin (Germany) is 10 PM. In London (UK) is 9 PM.

          For the US: is 4 PM in Baltimore, 3 PM in Austin and 1 PM in Los Angeles.

          For Canada: is 4 PM in Montreal and 2 PM in Edmonton.

          In Beijing (China) is 4 AM.

          In Islamabad (Pakistan) is 2 AM.

          In Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) is 11 PM.

          In Sydney (Australia) is 6 AM.

          In Tokyo (Japan) is 5 AM.

          In Istanbul (Turkey) is 11 PM.

                Since I am a stay at home ... something, I am pretty much open for any time or day. I am on a GMT+1 time so UTC+2 right? Anyway I am so in for a chat day/night.

                        What a great idea, I would totally be into it!

                        I'm from the West Coast in Canada so I think the three time slots that would work for me would be the following:

                        UTC ............................. EST ................... CST ........................ PST

                        midnight - 3 AM ....... 7 PM - 10 PM ....... 6 PM - 9 PM ............. 5 PM - 8 PM
                        3 AM - 6 AM ........... 10 PM - 1 AM ........ 9 PM - 12 AM .......... 8 PM - 11 PM
                        6 AM - 9 AM ............ 1 AM - 4 AM ........ 12 AM - 3 AM .......... 11 PM - 2 AM

                        The 2nd choice would probably be the best but I will work around whatever time works best for everyone.

                        1st major goal met -----100 lbs. lost as of Oct 2, 2008 - Hit 300 lbs. on this day – From April 1-08 when I initially begin to lose weight.
                        2nd major goal met - 151 lbs. lost as of Jan 13, 2009 - Hit 249 lbs. on this day.
                        3rd major goal met - Wed, May 13-09 - Reached losing 200 lbs. in just over a year and a couple of months.
                        4th major goal met – Reached “Onederland” June 6-09 – 198 lbs.
                        5th major goal met - My 1 yr. Atkins anniversary - Weighing 184 lbs. this day
                        Current weight – 184 lbs.
                        Goal weight - 150 – 160

                          How in the **** did you do that?
                          I figure if you tell me your secret I could suffer for three months and be my weight I was in the Army.

                            I lost 100 lbs from April 2008 (when I began to lose weight) to October 2008.....so in six months I lost my first 100 lbs.

                            Absolutely I will share my secret with you as well as everyone else.....it goes like this......go by the book....truly make this way of eating your life and not something you go on and off from...it has to be the way you will eat for the rest of your life....eat EXACTLY the way the book instructs, drink lots of water and EXERCISE!!!! The exercise has been crucial to the success I have experienced.

                            The great part has been...I haven't suffered at all eating this way....but I have to say the exercise has been a kick in the pants...I'm known by the people around me who know me well as "The Drill Sargent" and I am very much my own Drill Sargent I can tell you that...I feel like I've been training for an event for the past year in all the exercise I have dedicated myself to do but other than that...the eating part has been MOST enjoyable!!!!

                            Keep in touch and if there is anything I can do to help or if you have any questions feel free to get a hold of me on my thread under the "Before and After pics" section...I have posted some before during and most recent pictures showing my 1 year and a few months weight loss journey....I will go grab the link and re-post it here for you to check out if you're interested...or feel free to pm me or pop in and send me a visitor's message if you have questions or would like to pop in and say howdy.
