  • I knew it was going to be like this

When I returned to Atkins a week ago my beloved husband decided to join me. He has stuck to it really well except for the water thing. So today we got some Fruit 2 O. I know it has Splenda in it but I figure that if he drinks 3 of these a day he's doing better than he was which was drinking only decaf ice tea. Each bottle is 20 oz. So, he's been eating only what I pack for his lunch no snacks, eating breakfast and dinner.
Today he put on a pair of shorts that fit him before and they almost fell off! He has a pair that are one size smaller and he can now wear them! I'm sooo proud of him. I have still just lost the two lbs. but my blood sugars are coming down a little at a time. I just had to share with you guys about how good my wonderful husband is doing on Atkins.

That is so great. I put my husband on Atkins in January and he's lost 70 pounds (to my 35). People ask him all the time how he's losing and he always says the same thing. "I just eat what my wife tells me to"
What would they do without us
My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

Everytime I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my injured ego, or dull my senses, I will remember,
That even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.

Good for both of you -- men loose faster and easier than women do (mumbling profanities here) so don't get upset when they loose more and do so by eating only what you tell them to or allow them to. You'll find the men who post here eat a pound of hamburger at a time or a huge steak....first of all if I ate that much at one sitting I wouldn't be able to eat anything else and with my body, would probably gain weight....God love them though!

Keep up the great work ladies -- your men depend on you!!!

Re: I knew it was going to be like this

My hubby's lost a bunch too - and he didn't have that much to lose to start with...people are calling him "skinny". That's OK with me tho - the fact that he agreed to do this with me makes one less major challenge in my journey. I'm climbing the rungs a bit faster than I'd like for his sake, but otherwise its all about me, and he's along for the ride. How can I be upset that he loses faster than I do when he's SO supportive?

I do need to take him shopping...his butt looks really funny in his "fat" jeans...they hang right off of it

Exactly, Julie. My husband has been so supportive of me before he started eating this way and is still supportive. Even when I got frustrated that he was losing 5 pounds a week to my one. I do know they lose faster but it was still frustrating. And it is so much easier when he's wating the same things. Although now he's about 10 pounds from goal and I still have 70 pounds to go so I have to add foods in for him that I'm not quite ready for. Although I loved the look on his face when I told him he can now have an occassional banana

I've got over a hundred to go...and I can see his ribs...I've started just giving him bigger portions. Once we climb to rung 4, I'm going to hang back...beer alone should slow him down (assuming he moves to 5 without me-pretty sure bet) Then he can keep going if he wants to, but I'm going to take the last 5 rungs slowly. I don't ask anymore if he snacks at work - I don't need to know

Re: I knew it was going to be like this

My problem is that my husband is so picky. There's very few veggies that he likes. He doesn't like nuts/peanut butter. or grains like oatmeal. He does like fruit so I just decided to try him out on the higher rung fruits.

Re: I knew it was going to be like this

My DH has lost weight too and he is not doing this with me. But I am assuming because starches are rarer it is making an impact. And me talking about the impact of sugars has made a bit of an impact I think. He can lose a bit though. We were both getting kind of round and comfortable there for a bit.

My husband has just lost some weight too. Although he isn't eat the Atkins way, he has cut out a lot of breads and starches and other things and it's worked for him so I am pleased about that.

Thanks for the great news, wishing you both great health and happiness!
