  • Question about DrAtkins New Diet Cookbook

I have DANDR and have read it cover to cover. I also have the cookbook. I have found what seems to be wrong information in the cookbook. In the cookbook I found the list of acceptable foods for induction. It lists all kinds of cheese including cottage cheese. I can't find that in DANDR. Is this a misprint or is cottage cheese allowed on induction?

Re: Question about DrAtkins New Diet Cookbook

Is this the book you have: BooksChristian.com: Dr. Atkins' New Diet Cookbook (Paperback) by Robert C. Atkins, Fran Gare ?

This was published in 1997, when cottage cheese was allowed during Induction. Cottage cheese is not allowed in Induction in the 2002 plan.

Yep, that's the one I have! That answers my question. Thanks! Do you know if there was a newer one published?

No idea... I just go online for recipes or look for Atkins-friendly ones in a regular cookbook (which I don't do often though). There are some in the back of DANDR too.

There was one published to go with the Atkins for Life book - it has recipes for all stages. I would not really recommend it though unless you find it for cheap.
I would recommend linda's recipe site:

It's still a usable cookbook---you just have to read the ingredients and make sure it is legal for the 2002 diet.

Personally, I've stopped looking for "low carb cookbooks" because I've found many mainstream cookbooks have naturally low carb recipes. In fact, I've found "low carb" versions of recipes that contain things like xanthum gum, whey powder etc. when the regular version does not (and is, hence, lower carb and contains less additives than it's "low carb" counterpart.)
