  • Fatter than ever...

I know this sounds weird and BASICALLY IT'S NOTHING BUT A VENT BUT...
I'm closer to my goal weight than ever but I feel fatter than ever...
I look at the mirror and I just can't see what I've lost (of course), but I just see the fat girl. Problem areas are just screaming into my face and I can't stand clothes shopping either.
I know I can wear clothes I wasn't able to button up couple of months ago but somehow I'm not satisfied with it. What's wrong with me? Why do I feel so fat to myself? It doesn't make any sense because I wasn't that thin last summer and I fel t ok with myself then...
    What should I do?
Do you see what I mean and WHY???
    Will it pass?
    :confused :confused

you need to take off the fat goggles :hug For a long time I had skinny goggles on and that is the reason I got to be so big in the first place. I had to take those off to actually do something about the weight. You have the reverse problem. You have not taken off the fat goggles. I can see from your face alone that you are not a big girl. Maybe you should post some before and after pics so that you and others can see all of your accomplishments.

Its just mental sabotage. Your mind's sayin 'youre still fat so ya may as well eat some french fries!'. DON'T FALL FOR IT! YOU'RE NOT STILL FAT.

Believe me, it's mind games-- recognize that and cast it out! A lifetime of being mentally fat doesn't disappear over a period of a couple of months or years of weight loss.

        on being kind to self

Is there a peaceful reason to tell yourself you feel fat?

Part of the healing process is to learn to be very loving, gentle, and kind in the way we speak to ourselves. (And yes, I'm talking to myself here... :yes )

What would happen if you looked in the mirror and saw perfection instead?
Your body is an art form. It is beautiful just as it is now.

I used to wear 'skinny goggles' like Spirittalker and that's how I lived in denial about how big I had become!
I have some good fat goggles on as well, and although I can look at my before and current pic and logically admit to myself that I'm noticeably smaller, I still see a LOT of flab when I look in the mirror.

Some days it feels as though this is Day 1 of Atkins for me, and I'm at my heaviest, if that makes sense.

But...I have some days, like this morning, for example. I was coming home from my run, and I had to walk between two cars in the parking lot. I thought there was no way I'd fit between them unless I walked sideways, but I walked straight through, and my hips didn't even brush either car! A lightbulb moment is what you call that, I guess...lol (picture me in the parking area staring at a space between two cars...lol)

Or I tried some pants on the other day that I swore I'd never get up over my hips, and they turned out to actually be too loose...

So when you have one of these moments, really celebrate them and acknowledge to yourself that you've come very far. In time you'll put those fat goggles away. :yes

Those darn FAT GOGGLES you really need to start telling yourself I love myself I love myself and the efforts you have placed forward will start being seen. It's called self sabotash and I used to do that all the time I had therapy for it actually after my husband had his accident. I was like you I hated my body and everything now, I love the progress I love how it works for me I love how it is looking. You really need to look deep inside and love yourself. Dr, Phil has some great book like self matters.

I wholehearted agree with all the previous posts. Another thing I notice when I lose weight, or are about to drop on the scale, is my fat layer is more pliable and giggly - the fat cells are not "plumped" out to smooth your skin but more squishy - like when your underwear can push in your skin instead of nice and flat? This doesn't look good in the mirror but DOES look good in jeans. Do you like how you look in clothes? Also, don't worry, it goes away when you skin pulls in after a while of not having the fat cells plump. Another thing which helps with that is lifting (light) weights...do you lift at all?

I had skinny goggles on for a while there too, never saw my weight problem until it kind of snuck up on me (ie only fitting into a size 18 when previously was a size six-eight).

A few months ago fat goggles were my problem too like they are for you now. However I can now look in the mirror and see the real me. I still have my duh moments where I think I'm fat and have to double check with the scale or tape measure to reassure myself, but that's natural.

Have you got friends who wear the same size you are now? If so look at them and ask yourself if you think they are slim or not. Chances are you will say they are tiny and hopefully that will help you to realize the same about yourself.

It does take time to adjust and I think a part of me will always feel like the overweight girl. But it really is a lot of fun once the fat goggles start coming off.

What might also help is to take a picture of the way you look now and compare it to pictures of you at your heaviest - you should see an INCREDIBLE difference!

Oh and throwing away the fat goggles will help too

Everyone has given you great advice so i'll just comment on "fat goggles", it'll be a while before you lose them. I had mine until I was about 140 pounds by that time I was too skinny for my height.

Until people started saying to me you should really gain a little weight and I looked in the mirror one day I could see my shoulder blades on my back it kind of made me think I'd gone too low. So its natural to have fat goggles even past goal you'll feel like you need to lose a few more pounds, but with time that feeling will pass and you'll adjust to your new body and love it.

If you haven't already, start working out. Lifting weights for myself has done a great deal of good. You will see quick progress, toned skin in areas that became loose from the weight loss and just generally feel alot better. Just think that you are so much better off than you were before, don't let a few pounds discourage you.

congrats on doing such a great job of getting so close to goal.

If you every really really needed a job you were so happy you got it you didn't care one bit about the conditions but after you been there a while and don't feel so desperate to actaully find one cause you got one you notice the conditions and hour your work station doesn't have the bestest most up to date equipment and concentrate on them instead of the joy you felt that you were enployed there. We are the same way with ourt weight loss. As we get closer and closer to goal we see the sight imperfections in the conditions and concentrat on them. We are up close and personel with our bodies and always see every wrinkle every slight change in coloration of our skin or hair.

I was telling some folk thinking about plastic surgery at goal it has to do with how we choose to view our tapastry we can get up close and personel and examine every stitch for any slight flaw and get out the equipment and remoive that slightly flawed stictch and sew in a new better one or we can step back hang it on the wall and say WOW what I great picture I created with all my hard work.

                      HAppy low carbing.

Hey, thanks everyone for your input! Now I'm glad I posted it! Fat goggles, oh indeed. :geek Gotta throw them away :confused
You know, I've never been thin in my life. Even as a kid I was bigger than other girls in my class... and as my mom and sis were so tiny I was always told about how big I was (maybe that's why I stopped growing taller lol). Anyways, I'm not thin today, but I am better than ever, that I can tell. Quite honestly, I should say I'm an average woman right now. NOT fat. (See, I said that!) And I will be a slender one some day. Hopefully soon.
                        Thank you again.
And yes, I'm working out. But I also know I should so more.

Here is another thought. Maybe you are retaining water and feeling bloated. How is your salt intake these days? Maybe you are due for a whoosie? Maybe that TOM is due?
