I was just kind of wondering that if someone accidentally has more than the allowed portions of veggies on the induction phase...Does that constitute moving yourself backwards like perhaps a bowl of ice cream or a chocolate bar would....What if someone needs that extra kick if they are having problems going to the bathroom. I hate to be so direct, but I was just wondering...

Re: Too Much Veggies???
Depends on the veggie...
1/2 cup Ben & Jerry's vanilla ice cream has about 21g of carbs, maybe 19 "net"
1/2 cup boiled cauliflower has about 2.5 carbs, maybe 1.5 "net"
1/2 cup boiled carrots have about 6.5 carbs, maybe 4 "net"
So, no, it's not such a big deal. Just don't do it again.
As for the other matter, the doctor suggests fibre supplements. Alas, it's all too common a problem until way up the OWL rungs....

If you drink enough pure water daily you and eat vegtables with fiber you shouldn't have problems going to the bathroom. But if you do -- Dr Atkins suggested you take a tablespoon of flaxseed or psyllium husk. Make sure to drink plenty of water if you take either of these because if you don’t it can leave you feeling bloated and heavy and you’ll have more problems going to the bathroom.

Re: Too Much Veggies???
More veggies may be good for many reasons - the issue you mention is one of them.
You are done with your 14 days and there is nothing wrong adding another 5 carbs worth of veggies every week if you like that for as long as you like too. It would be very good nutrition and some would really lose bundles doing it. You would be on OWL rather than extended. But it sounds like if you want to eat more veggies, you should move to OWL.

Thanks Ohbe.. I think I tend to agree with you...
Liv... its not that I want to go to OWL right now.. as you can see I have tons of me to lose!!! but I was just wondering if someone was having a problem going to the bathroom.. if say a half cup more of a veggie was better than using something over the counter.. that was just a dumb thought I woke up with this morning LOL..

If you add any amount of veggies above your three cups, you are in OWL Rung 1... whether you call it that way or not.Originally posted by Browneyedmelly View PostLiv... its not that I want to go to OWL right now.. as you can see I have tons of me to lose!!! but I was just wondering if someone was having a problem going to the bathroom.. if say a half cup more of a veggie was better than using something over the counter.. that was just a dumb thought I woke up with this morning LOL..
Besides veggies, water and a fiber supplement, exercise also helps with constipation."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Too Much Veggies???
I 'cheated' on my first two weeks of induction by adding more veggies - not consciously, it just happened that way. And I still got constipated. (eek!) It was due to one day of not drinking enough water because I was out all day on a mini-vacation visiting my sister.
I cut back down on my veggies, upped my water again and everything worked out fine.

Re: Too Much Veggies???
Well I have done my induction and extended induction to the letter.. except not drink enough water... because even with a water pill, what I put in never comes out...but you know it was a question I pondered, whether natural fiber was better than pill form...Your right though I have to get this water down.. but its so depressing when my body tends to retain most of it....its making me cranky this morning!!

Re: Too Much Veggies???
I think if you drink a lot of water consistently, your body will stop retaining it so much. The first few days might be a bit uncomfortable, but let's face it...your body will have to give in at some point (and I hear it does
)

Re: Too Much Veggies???
Thats a good point Julie.. I really have to work to get that water down.. its always been a problem.. but I just hate it.. and even when I was pregnant, I drank 64 ounces of water and went back to the doctor, the next day... and gained 7 pounds of water.. he was so mad at me.. he asked me why I did that and I said because I felt bloated...maybe with my water pill it will eventually come out.. but thank you, your absolutey right!!!!
