I'm on induction and just went to the grocery store to get "safe" foods. All the meats and cheeses I bought said 0 carbs 0 sugar. However as I am having my small snack of a few cheese cubes, I'm reading the nutrition label and 1) it says contains milk 2) at the bottom after the percentages of vitamins it says total carbohydrate 300g........what?! are either of these ok even if the main nutrition facts say 0 carbs 0 sugars??

Re: confused and starting to get overwhelmed
Hard cheese is OK for induction even though the package may say "contains milk." (Of course, I'd hope that all cheeses contain milk of some sort...
)
I think you're reading the total recommended daily values, not the amount of the product (look a few lines up).at the bottom after the percentages of vitamins it says total carbohydrate 300g.- M/37

Re: confused and starting to get overwhelmed
To eat 300 g of carbohydrate, you'd need to eat over 300 g (more than 10 oz) of cheese. You're probably reading something completely different, not grams of carbohydrate.
You are allowed to have not more than 3-4 oz of aged cheese per day. The label says zero carbs because the carbs per serving are below 0.5 g, so the manufacturer is allowed to write 0. As a rule of thumb, you should count each ounce of cheese as 1 net carb.
And cheese is made of milk, that's why milk appears in the list of ingredients. What are the other ingredients. Enzymes, salt... anything else?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: confused and starting to get overwhelmed
wow..I feel a little slow...I am just paranoid because I want a clean induction. I accidently messed up a few times and now I feel like I can't eat anything. But the ingredients are: pasteurized milk, cheese culture, salt. enzymes, annatto, natamycin
my accidents:
*boyfriend marinated meat in beer without letting me know (not on purpose)
*used Kraft American cheese
*ate sugar free jello because another site put it as a snack/dessert suggestion
..SO i keep "restarting" induction
however I have lost 9lbs during the first 6 days despite the accidents

Re: confused and starting to get overwhelmed
The recommended daily allowance for carb is 300 - and people wonder why our weight just go up and up.
Anyways Mommy2
You are doing just fine. We all fumble a bit in the beginning. But find the straight and narrow quickly. It is just small little things you list there. Good job.

Re: confused and starting to get overwhelmed
Relax -- print out the acceptable food list -- if food is listed there you can eat it. Don't keep thinking you "can't" eat anything....you will probably eat more and a variety of things than you did before you started Atkins.
Also, reading the book will take a lot of confusion out of the plan. Good luck.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily
