Re: al little more advide please
are you not losing in Induction? Why not give Atkins a chance to work first.

Re: advice once again
Real berries do have carbs. However they also have fiber... which would make the net carbs much lower...

Re: al little more advide please
are you eating foods only on the acceptable food list? If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list it doesn’t belong in your mouth – no exceptions! Look at the ingredients list and check it against the acceptable food list -- just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it.
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)
The Atkins shakes and bars (as well as other brand names of these products) are not legal on induction – there are non-induction ingredients in them and they are not listed on the acceptable food list - are you eating or drinking these?
Are you drinking any water? Pure water, nothing added -- you are suppose to drink a minimum of 64 ounces daily.
Have you posted a few days menus (with amounts of each food eaten) on the Rate My Menu area?Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: al little more advide please
I merged the two threads.
Chance, your Induction went great. You started with 40 lbs to lose and lost 15 (that's 38%) in the first four weeks. So you are definitely not metabolically resistant.
Your problem was a lack of vitamin/mineral supplementation and extending Induction for too long. You say you have added a multivitamin and moved to OWL. It takes more than 3 days (we "talked" on the 25th) for vitamins and extra veggies to fix your problem. Be patient and don't do too many changes in your diet by introducing this and that --- you'll end up not knowing what helped you and what effect different factors have on your weight loss. Give it some time... a week at least. Don't weigh daily if the number on the scale affects your motivation or your mood. Weigh once a week and take measurements the same day, and in the rest of the week concentrate on your eating and exercise.
Can you post the menu you had yesterday, including quantities? What did you add as part of your OWL Rung 1? Do you measure foods with cups or do you weigh them? Or do you just "guesstimate" how much a cup of something is?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: al little more advide please
Wait, wait, wait.... I'm confused. So you said in your other thread that you started Atkins 7 weeks ago. And lost 15 in the first 4 weeks and didn't lose anything (weight or inches) in the past 3 weeks. Is this correct? What I don't understand is, did you lose these 15 lbs on Atkins in weeks 1-4 or on a low calorie diet?
You should record your weight in the morning. At evening your weight will depend on what you have eaten during the day and on the water you drank --- it takes some time for the food and drinks to "disappear". It's very common to weigh a few pounds more at night than in the morning.
Are you eating two 8-oz steaks or is that a mistake in your post? I entered your menu in my FitDay using only one 8-oz steak. Below are the totals I get, assuming you are sauteeing the mushrooms and the salad is lettuce (what are you actually eating for your salad veggies?).
Calories: 2242
Fat: 177 g (71%)
Carbohydrate: 20.6 g (4%)
Dietary fiber: 2.4 g
Net carbs: 18.2 g
Veggie net carbs: 4.6 g
Protein: 135 g (25%)
Exactly how many carbs are in the bratwursts? Did you check the ingredients? Any dextrose or other sugar appearing there? Or ingredients derived from wheat (e.g. rusk)? Soy maybe?
You should get over half of your net carbs from vegetables. This does not happen right now, but I only used lettuce for your salads. So if you are eating something else and not lettuce, then you could be fine with your veggie net carbs.
You are eating quite a lot of processed meat (bacon, sausage), and this pushes your sodium intake relatively high (2500+ mg). Too much sodium could cause water retention or, for some reason, stall or slow down weight loss (I don't understand why this happens, but I have this issue with nuts).
Are you eating just enough to feel satisfied, without overeating just because a food is low in carbs or you still have carbs left for the day? I'm also not very sure how you use 2 tbsp of oil on 1 cup of salad...

Re: al little more advide please
Oh, okay. I think I got it now. So you came from a low calorie diet, on which you probably didn't give your body enough vitamins, minerals, and fuel in general. This most likely slowed down your metabolism to conserve energy and nutrients. When you changed to Atkins, you suddenly brought your calories back to a normal level, but it takes your metabolism some time to go out of the slow-running mode. So you were supplying your body with proper nutrition, but your body was too afraid to use it so it was still in energy-saving mode and was conserving most of the stuff you were putting into it.
Furthermore, since you lost some weight on your previous diet, you probably didn't have as much water weight to lose as someone who starts Atkins without switching from another diet. A big part of the weight Atkineers lose in the first two weeks is water weight, lost as the body is burning through its glycogen stores (glycogen is stored with water). This could explain why you didn't have a "whoosh" as most Atkineers have when they start the program.
Considering that you started with a freaked out metabolism that was trying to conserve every bit of energy & nutrients you were giving to it and you didn't have a bunch of water to lose, losing 4 lbs in 4 weeks (1 lb/week) is not bad at all. Many of us lose at this rate (or even slower) as we get closer to goal, and you don't have a lot of weight to lose.
That's how I counted the bratwursts: 2 net carbs per link and 270 calories. Check the ingredients. Two carbs sounds a lot to me and they probably have some non-Induction ingredients added. Eating two links of sausage (4 net carbs) makes it difficult to get over half of your net carbs from vegetables. It would be better to substitute sausages with less processed meat. You may want to introduce some beef in your menus from time to time. Beef is a great natural source of carnitine, and carnitine is involved in the transport of fatty acids across the membranes of mitochondria.
Eat more nutritious veggies. Choose 1 cup from the "Other Vegetables" list, as most of those veggies are higher in fiber, vitamins and minerals than the the salad vegetables. And for your salad vegetables try things like peppers, cucumbers, jicama, etc., not just lettuce."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
