    Re: Update on my Thyroid.

    Wow.
Thank you all for helping, I really had a bad day yesterday.. Sorry I tend to splurge out sometimes.
You've all been so helpful and patient and Im really grateful. I realize how stupid hoping for a thyroid problem sounded now though, and your all totally right. Its just abit frustrating, its not that much to lose but it seems impossible.

Actually I am REALLY short. >_> so short most ten year olds are taller than me. But its a good thing, I can wear heals and guys don't tend to freak. I don't really measure my height, my dad hides his 'mans stuff' from everyone so I can't use measuring tape. but id say inbetween 5 foot and 5 foot 2. Though im not overweight, Id have to be 4 pounds more, but with acting theres this whole other kinda weight thing. Its sad really, im just glad its not as bad as modeling O.o yikes

Bizzlekitty, I do that very same! =] properly so much im paranoid about it XD
Ive never had tomato, I don't touch cauliflower, coffee, pumkin, dairy, soda, vinegar..The list goes on XP
Honestly, ADBB helps me so much, I've been helped out even when my questions are completely ridiculous.

I didn't realize how common thyroid problems were, though it tends to happen most to older people doesn't it?
I to have had bad hair loss =/ pretty embarassing, but it was a anorexia side effect, though it was growing back fine and it suddenly stopped half way. Ive also been through emotional eating and orthrexia, Its insane, =P My Mum calls me 'problem child.'

ldyj, I take no offence at all, your just trying to help and that reply, when I think about it, is what I needed to hear.
I've tried theropy, but my Mums sorta against it.. I'm already costing my parents alot with everything and theropy is just to expensive for us, plus my Mum believes I don't need it.

I'll just have to up my exercise more, maybe ill become as ripped as The Rock.
..I should have never watched that late night boxing show, some people are so awful.

I can't thank you guys enough, really. All of you are so awesome.
    Ready for change

      Re: Update on my Thyroid.

Just thought id give another update,
I went to the specialists yesterday. Nice man there, knew what he was talking about, thankfully.
I had an ultrasound (which I had to take my top off for XD ) and ANOTHER blood test (yikes).
Well, he thinks I should not do much exercise at all.. =/ sadly.. Cause its the thing that sorta keeps me sane sometimes.
Anywho, he also wants me to wait another 8 weeks >_>
Not for any reason just to make sure that im not losing weight, till he gives me medication..
Kinda stupid cause he knew I needed it, but he just wanted to wait.. And now im not doing alot of exercise, I feel it'll be alot harder to maintain a weight and not gain.

But he allowed me to take some sort of pilly things till that time, just natural stuff, nothing really major..
He didn't recomend anything.. My mum just looked in some pharmacys and picked up 'Christophers thyroid maintenance' Anyone heard of it?
...I don't know if it'll work but its worth a shot I guess.

        Re: Update on my Thyroid.

I think this doctor is trying to be cautious, trying to make certain he is doing the right thing for you. By throwing something else in the mix he hasn't prescribed, you may unintentionally throw things off. If the over-the-counter meds do have a positive effect on your thyroid function, then the next tests the doctor prescribes for you may give a false reading. If you are borderline, that could even mean he won't prescribe when he would have otherwise.

At the very least, I would ask him before taking the product picked up from the pharmacy.

Kinda stupid cause he knew I needed it, but he just wanted to wait.

I seriously doubt it is stupid at all and I strongly suspect he has very good, professional, reasons for wanting to set up a controlled period (the meds he prescribed and no exercise) before testing again. I suspect he is being very wise to consider your past history and to gather some current history before making a decision how to treat you.

This is where my approach would differ from yours. I never assume a doctor is stupid. When I don't understand what they say or what they prescribe (or not), I ask questions until I understand what and why.

          .

I read your update post yesterday, sighed, and decided not to respond. After all you have your doctors and your mother to give you direction. BUT for some reason I couldn't get your response out of my mind, and wanted to make sure I understood correctly.

So, here goes: the doctor doesn't want you to exercise to see if, by not doing so, you GAIN weight? He doesn't want to consider you for medication for another 8 weeks to ensure that your thyroid IS overactive, right? But he has allowed you to take "some sort of pilly things," (he didn't recommend a brand, just threw it out there?) that your mom found in a pharmacy. Did you discuss the brand you purchased with the pharmacist?

My question now is, how will you be eating for the next 8 weeks? Because, if you eat enough pizza, ice cream and junk, you can surely gain weight. This being said, whether or not you gain weight, thyroid problems are confirmed by a lot more than what the scale says. . . medical tests are what the doctor makes his determination on. Please take care of yourself and keep in touch,
          Jeannette
