    I feel for you bud!!!
It all started out as the front lower teeth feeling numb or just 'off' and I went to my doctor and he said that I have Peridontitis? I need to go to a Dentist to see whats going on. At this point I can eat everything but steak or anything too tough. Along with this gum disease im having teeth fragments break off and meat gets stuck in between teeth and its a PAIN. Chicken does the same thing but it's easier to chew.

Tell me a little more about your situation (if you will). I'm interested! Shall we start a new thread?

    Thanks

Ouch, Robert! That sounds nasty - I hope your dentist can help you quickly.

It is possible to eat meat/fat/veggies even if you can't chew if you think 'soup'.

Any meat and most veg can be simmered with herbs/spices till soft then pureed and with butter and/or cream added makes a tasty nutritious meal that is easy to eat without chewing.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Re: Portion Control

While Atkins automatically controls hunger for some folks, I have always been a bigger eater and I have some of the same tendencies to eat more than I need. Rather than tell yourself you can't have more, Eat a small normal portion and tell yourself you can have more---30 mins from now. If you are still hungry (and DO ask yourself if you are hungry) after 30 mins, then eat some more. But you may find your body just needs more time to register that you are full. Since you aren't outright denying yourself maybe the pressure will be off that makes you want to rebel and eat that extra portion.

              Re: Portion Control

Another aspect of dieting is the size of your stomach. When you are not dieting and eating whatever you want whenever you want, your stomach can be very large... as you start to decrease the amount of food you eat, your stomach starts to shrink. At the point where you are only eating 20 carbs per day for several weeks, your stomach should be a lot smaller and will feel full sooner. (try typing that 5 times fast...)

Also, if you only fix yourself a certain amount of food, that's all you get. I fix 2 eggs and cheese for breakfast. When the food disappears (which is fast) that's all I get... even if I'm still hungry, I wait a half hour to allow it time to start digesting. Usually by then the hunger is gone.

So waiting for your stomach to shrink... and waiting after eating small portions... those are the hurdles to jump.

                Re: Portion Control

I overate for years. I eventually noticed that I would do it more in public than when alone - I was rebelling! I was sure everyone was watching how much cake & ice cream the fat girl was having at the birthday party, and how much I was eating in general...so I ate as much as I wanted as if to say 'yeah - I'm fat...so what?' It was a form of emotional overeating. I ate too much & when not hungry at home too - I didn't want to feel deprived. As soon as I thought 'I shouldn't have any more' - this little voice in my head said 'why not? I can if I want to...and I do want to - so there!!' The only person I was hurting was myself.

It took me a long time to get to the point where I want to be thin more than I want food - and the feeling of deprivation is pretty much gone, because I'm doing this for ME, its what I want. I'm not doing this because my Mom wants me to, or my husband, or my sister or ... it is for ME.

If you can figure out WHY you are over-eating, you can deal with the issues and make a plan to get past it. The other tricks, like the smaller plate, are tools that you could use once you are ready - I do believe they help as well. Best wishes for your journey,

I seem to be the opposite. I eat a lot when alone but when people are around and "watching me" (especially people that I don't know) I will order/eat very little.

HMM....solution = invite new people over for every meal! LOL...kidding
