  • Trader Joe's Cobb salad

En route to work , I bought a trader Joes cobb salad. it had lettuce, chicken, blue cheese , egg, and bacon. The huge salad with the blue cheese dressing (no sugar on label ) was 440 calories with this info:
    • Total Fat 32g
    • Saturated Fat 12g
    • Trans Fat 0g
    • Total Carbohydrate 9g
    • Dietary Fiber 4g
    • Sugars 7g
    • Protein 30g

It was probably 4 cups of salad and I was ravenous. Would you suspect that the sugars were in the veggies and the carbs in the cheese? Is this salad a no-no?

Your net carbs are 5 grams since you can subtract out the fiber. Many foods naturally have sugar in them. Chances are the sugars were in the dressing more so than the veggies. But I figure you had a little carbs in the veggies, a little in the cheese and a little in the dressing. It wasn't a bad choice as fast food goes. I would feel Ok with this. Just make sure the label says that what you had was in fact a single serving. Sometimes thay give you the totals for one serving and then tell you the bowl you bought is actually 2 or more servings (even though everyone buys it for one person). Tricky marketing.
