  • Am I eating too much fat?

I started Induction 5 days ago. I went through the headaches and tiredness already, and now I feel a little better. I have been following the rules exactly as I should, but I don't feel I am losing weight. I have been eating a lot of meat, and I eat even when I am not hungry. I think it is mostly out of boredom. Is there a chance I am eating too much fat? Also I ate a sugar free candy that was sweetened with Splenda, could that have stalled me? I really appreciate any advice anyone can give me, as I am new to this diet.
    Thank you

Re: Am I eating too much fat?

    Welcome to Atkins and ADBB
Great job getting through the Induction Flu (detox).
You may be eating to much meat and not enough veggies. A meat portion is 6-8 ounces a serving. You're also required to eat 2 cups of salad veggies (pge. 125 DANDR) and 1 cup of Other Veggies (pge. 126). Or just 3 cups of salad veggies during Induction.
Do not eat when you are not hungry. Rather than eating when you're bored, instead, go for a walk. This will keep your mind off of snacking, plus, will help you get a restfull sleep.
Though you are allowed 2 snacks throughout the day.
Do not eat anything unless it's on the Induction allowed food list. (Pges 124-129 DANDR.) Sorry, sugar free chocolate isn't on the lists. Did it stall you? One cant be to sure, but it would be best to steer clear of it untill after Induction and when you're at the Rung of what's in the chocolate. Read food lables! If there is soy added to the SF chocolate then you would have to wait untill Rung 6 Legumes. Milk is a Rung 2 food. If it has nuts, it's a rung 3 food. See how it works?
Your ratios for Induction should be 65% Fat, 30% Protein, & 5% Net Carbs.
Have you used fitday to plug in your food to keep track? Here's the link- www.fitday.com This is an excellent tool to help you keep track of your Protein, Fats and Net Carbs.
Keep going you're doing great! Your asking questions and learning along your way. If it's one thing I know about this journey is that it's a learning one.
    Wishing you much success.
    Sincerely, Sherri

Re: Am I eating too much fat?

Thank you very much for your reply. It looks like I have a lot of learning to do. I am not very good at keeping track of the percentages of what I am eating. I did have a cup of soy milk the other day. I wonder if that may have done it to me? Well I give you props for the weight you have lost! You are an inspiration to me. Thank you again for your help.

Nicole you need to familirize yourself with the rules. Do you have the book yet? it is a very good source. We use the 2002 edition here and we follow the rules. For induction it is pretty strict as Sherri says and it is very important for you to follow these.
Check this link for what you can eat. (And there are the ONLY things you can eat)
