  • Ultimate Temptation

So we're heading out of town to a family reunion tomorrow, and my wife is baking a Gooey Butter Cake.
Ummm Yes she is EVIL!!!!!!! Her and that Friggin Paula Deen.

Anyhow it smells Yummy, but I have the will power to NOT EAT ANY. As well as eating any sweets this weekend.

OK that's my rant for the day.

Hang in there Chip! It isnt worth it and you know it. I keep a couple of cans of diet root beer around for days like this. Then I fill a glass with ice, 2 oz of heavy cream, a dash of vanilla and I have what tastes like an instant rootbeer float. It makes me feel like I have had a sweet cheat without the cheat part.

I do something similar to Jill - I make a legal desert only when I'm going to a party where others will be eating desert. I don't do it everytime, but it helps sometimes Stay strong buddy...just keep repeating to yourself: "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels".

Don't do it!! I went to my husband's family reunion in KY, with the best of intentions NOT to indulge! Well, the best laid plans of mice and men. . .I fell face first in the carb mud! That was Memorial Day - I'm just now getting back where I was BEFORE I fell. So, please. . . .don't!!

Chip you can do it! I'm dreading Christmas this year. I think the Paula Deen dessert cookbook stays on my SIL's counter for the whole month of December! I think the advice so far is great - have a legal back-up plan in place. Have a great time with the family!

                Re: Ultimate Temptation

my ex-girlfriend was a junk food addict and would sit next to me eating McDonalds/burgerking etc along with diary queen etc and it never bothered me.

I was deep enough in keto that I had 0 interest in her food at all. I told her that being in keto made her food seem like it was made out of cardboard.
You could place a bunch of diary queen/junk food in front of me but my brain at that point couldn't register it as food.
I could smell it, but had 0 interest in it. I love how keto is cruise control for weightloss.

                  Man, those temptations are tough.

At my company's summer outing, I survived an $80 per person all you can eat buffet last night which had, among other things on the menu:

                  lobster
                  filet mignon
                  prime rib
                  scallops in bacon
                  king crab legs
                  oysters
                  teriyaki ribs
                  clams
                  various chicken dishes
haagen dazs dessert station with 15 flavors and all the toppings
about 10 different types of cakes/cookies/pies

Thankfully I'm back in ketosis so I stuck to a lobster, one crab leg, small piece of filet and prime rib, and some clams. Whew.....I couldn't even look at the dessert station, but when others at my table came back with giant sundaes, thankfully I was so full with Atkins-friendly stuff, it didn't bother me.

No veggies on this buffet? That's strange!

Ooops. They had all sorts of salads, which I didn't list. I didn't have any salad since I ate one before I left with a piece of string cheese. I didn't trust any of the dressings, and they didn't have oil and regular vinegar, so I skipped the salad at the buffet....
