  • Atkins Diet and Bronkaid Caplets

I started started the Atkins diet about a week ago and someone at my gym said I should take one Bronkaid caplet before my workout and then one at lunch time. He said the Bronkaid will help me with my workout and also powers fat due to the ephedrine sulfate in it. Is it true?

What do we think about Bronkaid caplets in add of losing weight? Bronkaid has 25 mg of Ephedrine Sulfate and 400mg of Guaifenesin.

Please email me your comments but he is telling me that the ephedrine sulfate will burn the fat right off of me!

    I wouldn't recommend it.

If you just started induction, your focus needs to be 100% induction.

I love ephedra (Ma-Huang) I was on and off ephedra for 10 years, with no regrets. Ephedra was wonderful at allowing me to breathe MUCH better than normal. It also gave me energy to work out at peak level for extended periods of time but that meant nothing when I came home and ate "normal" food.

I'm no longer on ephedra and now on keto. Keto to me is cruise control for fat loss.

My advice is put down the ephedra and pick up the steak.

BRONKAID Caplets provide temporary relief of shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, wheezing and cough associated with bronchial asthma.

Do you have bronchial asthma? I read the entire package online and no where did I see anything about being recommended for weight loss - it is an asthma reliever. That should answer your questions. Why do you think you need this?

If you want to use supplements check the book for the ones that are suggested.

That's interesting....using a medication that is FDA approved only for "temporary relief of shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, wheezing and cough associated with bronchial asthma. Helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to rid the bronchial passageways of bothersome mucus and drain bronchial tubes" for weight loss.

No wonder FDA wants to remove certain over-the-counter medications.....

The usage Johnathan describes is common in bodybuilding circles. It's often in an "ECA stack" (ephedrine, caffeine, aspirin).

Johnathan - if you visit Dr. Squat's forum you can search the archives on this topic, as there are several posts there devoted to it. There are some top-notch athletes and coaches who post there and are glad to educate others on stuff like this.

Ephadrine used to be available in practically every convenience store as those AMAZING ENERGY BOOST pills. You could also find it in diet pills.

The stuff has been used forever as a stimulant. The chinese call it "blood of the dragon".

It just so happens to be a relief for asthma as well.

After watching a good friend of mine give himself a heart attack by eating the stuff every time he felt he needed a boost, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Re: Atkins Diet and Bronkaid Caplets

The ephedrine used in STAC is ephedrine HCL, this asthma medication uses ephedrine sulfate. This might be a major difference and it might not be...I don't know.

But what I do know is that the makers of Bronkaid state this on their website:

Ask a doctor before use if you have
              • heart disease
              • high blood pressure
              • thyroid disease
              • diabetes
              • difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland
              • ever been hospitalized for asthma or if you are taking a prescription drug for asthma
              • persistent or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis,
                or emphysema
              • a cough which is accompanied by excessive phlegm (mucus)
Bayer Consumer Care Products - Bronkaid

Unfortunately, most people who go on weight loss diets are overweight/obese individuals who either currently have or are on their way to having heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. So using this drug---especially using it off label---might not be in their best interest healthwise.
