    (UPDATE::ON SURGERY)
SO.... I had my surgery yesterday, it went great even the anesthesia. YAY!!! I am SO GLAD to have this done with, now its just on to recovery.
I hurt so bad, probably a 9/10 so so bad. I am on major pain medication that actually has taken the "edge" off of the pain, but it still hurts
I was told by the doctors and everyone to go off of atkins for my surgery, just because even though I told them, that it would complicate things with my blood and urine tests, and people might start getting concerned (about the levels) even though I told them.
Well I wanted to do what my doctor said, (and he said that I should now be on a high fiber diet, just because my pain pills causes CONSTIPATION. I dont know what to do now.
I ate good foods, to knock me out of ketosis, it took a couple of days since I was so dark, (and I didnt gain any weight) YAY!!! But now I am stuck not knowing what to do, since my doctor told me to follow a high fiber diet. What does that mean???
Anyways, yes I couldnt sleep its 4:30 in the morning here, the pain woke me up (so I went a took another pain pill (I was due for my next.)
So thats the update. Thanks everyone for being concerned.

PS.. My feet majorly hurt and my body feels blah (and it was NOT feet surgery, or anywhere near my feet) could this be from the iv all of the fluid?? Will it just go away in time? I am also hurting from my surgery (female). But my feet dont help the pain

The pain is something you should call your doctor and ask.

About Atkins vs. high fiber diet, the two do not exclude each other. I'm not sure what your doctor understands by "high fiber", but if you eat half an avocado, a cup of broccoli, one of jicama and one of peppers, plus supplement with 1 tbsp of fiber, you'll be eating about 24 g of dietary fiber per day. Or you can move to OWL and add even more veggies, which will add more fiber to your diet.

Please call your doctor about your pain. Make sure you take the pain pills as scheduled. You want to stay on top of the pain & not let it get out of control.

Eating high fiber veggies will help as Georgianna has said. Pumpkin is also high in fiber. Ask your doctor about taking a stool softner while you are taking narcotics. They will help also.

      Take care of you!

Re: Update on my surgery and questions

The pain from the surgery is supposed to hurt (thats what my doctor said). Recovery is VERY VERY painful. Although right now I am flying like a kite. HAHA! I am just wondering about the foot thing, has anyone ever experienced this in the feet, or any other part of there body after surgery?? The feet do not hurt as a 9/10 (just the surgery when I am not on pain pills, is a 9/10.) My feet (and ankles) just feel like I have been walking and walking and walking. They are very sore, like its from water or something.

Re: Update on my surgery and questions

My husband just had surgery a week ago today. And the first few days he complained of pain in his feet and legs. His surgery wasn't for lower body either. I suspect they had his legs in an awkward position for him during the 6 hour surgery. It went away after three days or so. I'd talk to your doctor, though, just to be safe.

Yes, you can supplement with psyllium husks and flax seeds. Moving up the OWL rungs will add many more choices for fiber.

P.S. I told you you'd come out of anesthesia okay.

Good luck to you, I hope you heal well and on to the body of your dreams.

Glad it is over and you are doing okay. Definitely ask the doctor about the leg pain. Chances are it is water retention or the awkward positioning but it can also be other things so do talk to him. I know how worried you were going in so I am sure the relief of it being completed is a welcome feeling even if the physical pain is there for a few more days.

I work with a number of surgeons & they don't like their patients to hurt. Your recovery shouldn't be very very painful~~you should be comfortable so that your body can heal. Just my opinion.
