I am confused. Atkins Peanut Butter Granola shows to have 19 carbs, but only 3 net carbs. How is this possible if you subtract the fiber which is only 6 grams? What else is subtracted?

Sorry I don't know the answer...sugar alcohols maybe? I avoid all those frankenfoods with mystery ingredients. Also, those aren't allowed during Induction and probably not until well up the OWL levels. That's really a good thing...real food is so much better for you!

That is what I thought too. My friend bought some Atkins bars that you can use on all 4 phases. But the net carbs are confusing.

The Atkins company is not quite the same as the Atkins diet. They live on selling products. Yes they say you can use them on all phases but the bars contains ingredients that are not allowed on the first phase. The carb thing is interesting there are a lot of "sugars" added in the form of glycerin but the Atkins company claims they have no effect on our blood sugar. The FDA does not approve of this claim so they have to list the total carb number on the back. Many people who come here and do eat the bars do find them to be stallers. Use them for emergency only.
