Re: poop
Did you eat fiber rich vegetables?
Did you drink plenty - PLENTY of water?
Did you try one of the legal ways to increase fibre suggested by Atkins in the book?
I would make sure I did these things. There should be no reason to eat a cereal on the Atkins diet.

Oh so true.. exercise will help! LOL
Maybe post your typical menu? I eat alot of salad and veggies... The first week is the hardest but your body will adjust. Water helps ALOT!

Re: poop
I was regular before atkins and after 5 day on the diet I still am.
I made sure to take flax seeds from day one and drink 3 liters of water a day (thats about 100 ounces). I also exercise.
The only thing that is different (sorry about that) is the amount I produce!
As the other posters said, take your extra fiber as per book, drink LOADS of water and eat a wide variety of veggies, not just green salad. Try if you can some fennel (it taste like licorice), it has lots of fibers.

Re: poop
Try cod liver oil caplets (3 before bed), and a gentle stool softener along with LOTS of water, then have hot tea first thing in the morning... works a treat!

Re: poop
OMG, no wonder you were in so much pain. 2 weeks is a long time without a BM. Okay, I have certainly had my issues with this over these last five years on Atkins. Everyone is different on what will help with this. If drinking enough water, eating ALL your veggies you're required to eat and exercising doesn't get you moving then try one or more of these-Originally posted by dreamagreatdream View Posthey guys im on day 14 of induction and i havent pooped once! well that was until i took an "overnight gentle relief" pill last night..lets just say i was in the worst pain ever last night! i was sweating and nauseous and considered going off atkins. ive always been regular while eating fiber one cereal. 25 carbs and 14 grams of fiber. whats everyones opinions on starting my days with 1/2 cup dry cereal like that, even though i wouldnt be following the rungs correctly?
1.) Liquid Magnesium is a natural stool softner.
2.) Pro-Biotics will heal your digetive tract (this is what I take, I've never had a problem since)
3.) A Glycerin Suppository is best to use if you havn't had a BM in 3 days or longer.
4.) Pumpkin and cabbage are great fiber filled foods and really help to get things moving
5.) You're allowed 1 tbls. of flaxmeal for fiber on Induction.
6.) Medicinal Traditionals makes a tea called Smooth Move Tea

Re: poop
Sounds like your discomfort might have been an effect of the laxative to me - I used to use laxatives when necessary after my son was born and popped one one night after going on Atkins and suffered the same symptons you describe, sweating, cramping, nausea, it was unbearable - but definitely down to the laxative and not constipation...

Re: poop
In my experience, there is a big difference in the two types of fiber as far as giving me "regularness" or not. Soluble fibers are great for you but it's the insoluble fibers that really help you stay regular. Ideally you want a good balance. Leafy greens are a great source of insoluble fiber. For me, one romaine lettuce salad a day is enough to keep constipation away. In my experience, uncooked vegetables work better for this than cooked ones do too.
When all else fails... I use "Super Colon Cleanse" capsules - one capsule three times a day (1/4 of recommended dose) for a week just to sort of get things moving againMitzi

Re: poop
For me it was increasing the magnesium oxide supplement. I take 1000+ mg per day. No pain, no cramps, no problems at all.Originally posted by pokiedot View PostWhen all else fails...
